  • Hiya!!! i too got declined for the virgin card and agree with littleEmms, soooo many people are going for it that they can pick and choose who is going to make them the most money. Tried Egg???? they have a similar 0% deal????

  • LittleEmms - Didn't do that Smartsearch. I just did it & it recommended Virgin for the top one!!! :( So typical. Tbh I think rather than run the risk of harming the credit he does have (he did check it the other day & it was good!) we will try to pay Cap One off asap. As soon as I have a job it should only take a few months. Then can try for a balance transfer on his HSBC instead I think.

Rags - He did try Egg about 8 months ago, before he has his Cap One & Egg rejected him (that's why we ended up with the dreaded Cap One card).

I don't see why someone won't do a balance transfer! It's not like it's extra credit! Grrr.

  • Completely understand on not wanting to affect the credit score. I held off last year from applying as I'd taken out a loan and the peeps on here advised against it. I thought I'd risk it as it had been about 6 months... and thankfully it went through.

That's some to do list (I think I'm better off sitting at work ;))

:( to stomach cramps - hope you're better today x

Hi Retrocircles! Didn't realise you had a diary, but then I'm not around that much these days so that's probably why!

Hope you get something sorted out on the job front. When I was in my early 20's I had loads of jobs while I was looking for something I could settle into, and then I kind-of just fell into air traffic and have been there ever since. Mainly due to the fact that no other job would pay me as much for doing as little! Sounds like you're applying for plenty anyway, I'm sure you'll get something, hopefully something good with wads of cash and not too much work.

See you've not done that ironing yet from your list...:p
  • LittleEmms - Feeling *much* better thankyou.

millyscarlett - I didn't conquer the list! But I did get a lot of non-list things done, so not all bad.

pandapaws - I forgive you! You are one of the busiest DFW's I know... :D Ironing? Nope... I had to iron DH's work trousers & shirt at midnight last night because I felt guilty that I hadn't done it already! & I'd love your job... *so jealous*

Thursday last week, lodger (brother-in-law) moved out. Life has been on Cloud 9 since. NEVER agree to have a family member living in your home. Especially if said family member is a lazy, smelly 21 year old male. The lack on 'rent' from him will truly !!!!!! us up financially with me not working, but the health benefits are amazing. My house is no longer a stressful, treading on eggshells zone, I can actually RELAX!

Spent the entire weekend airing out the bedroom, scrubbing the mould (yes, mould!) off the walls & repainting! Moving all *my* stuff back in there, and having a generally less cluttered house!

I know the above is nothing to do with MS'ing but it's changed my life!

My Thursday interview got cancelled & rescheduled for this Wednesday.

On Friday I got a letter saying I'd been shortlisted for the DWP job that I thought I HADN'T been shortlisted for! The job would be the career step I've wanted for so long. I could be possibly working in the same town as DH so car sharing would be possible, and no need to buy a 2nd car. The only problem is I have the assessment centre on Friday. I'm so nervous already! THEN if I get past that stage, I then have the dreaded interview. OHMYGOD.

AND an agency called saying they'd like to put me forward (amongst others) for a job working in the building over the road from DH! Again, would be so amazing if I got it.

Also ANOTHER job came up on Friday in the SAME building as DH! So 3 opportunities... surely 1 has to be for me. *fingers crossed*

On the MS front. NSD yesterday (didn't leave the house due to decorating) & had loads of Ebay auctions end. Transferred nearly £200 from Paypal which will nearly cover all of the bills that I need to pay next month, and blasted my £10 a day challenge!

Need to do more Ebaying today & carry on with shifting the furniture around the house.

  • What a brilliant day Retro! And I think that you're completely right on the lodger thing - somethings can cause so much more hassle than they're worth. Friends of mine were tempted to rent their room out to a friend... I politely said that they should really really think about it before they do!

That's fab on the job offer front - fingers crossed you get the one you really want! Just keep going for them! :D

Very well done on the £200 as well! That's brilliant!:T

  • Evenin' all.

I haven't been around much this week. To be honest I've been trying to keep myself busy to not think about my assessment centre this morning. My mind wanders when I sit around on the internet, so it was a big no-no!

Turns out all the fuss was for nothing. I got through the assessment centre stage & have an interview (the final stage!) on Tuesday! EEEEEK! I'm REALLY nervous now.

I haven't heard from the agency about the temp job. But I did hand my Police application in. Have nearly finished my Council one too. So fingers crossed.

Last day of the month. Transferred another £72.44 from Paypal & another payment of £4 for market research. Making my £10 a day £455.80 with a target of £280! Didn't smash my target of NSDs though! Oh well. I must plan our shopping better next month.

I wish I had a job to cover the bills, then that £455.80 would be slashing debt instead of just tiding me over for the month! Grrr.
