  • Sorry to hear about your buisness retrocircles.........i would love my own buisness, have all the ideas but none of the knowledge to do it, and i tend to think too big so would get no where fast!!

Have you tried egg for a good 0% deal, think theres is till next year........i think 39.9% is ridiculous!!!!!! how they can justify putting it up to that is beyond me, spesh now as in the recession now........ big wigs sat at a big desk no doubt. (ok, hoping off my soap box now....... lol!)

Good luck with ebaying your stuff/stock. What did your buisness sell by the way??

  • Rags - We sold designer art toys. Collectors tend to buy them. We will probably continue on a much smaller scale - so it's not all bad. :D

A bad start to my uber productive weekend...

My kitty cat Keiko likes to stress me out in times of woe. She suffers from cystitis (stress related), and luckily has been cystitis free since May 2008. She had a relapse last week (£70 vet bill - added to the I Owe Mum pile!) but was fine after she finished her anti-biotics.

We still had a tub of her medication from last time so have been treating her with that, but this morning she was weeing pure blood again! I have no idea why... Nothing has changed in our household over the last couple of weeks! So another trip to the vets this morning. I can't ask Mum to pay again, and it will probably cost a fortune because it's Saturday. I'll update when DH is back.

    :(

    Hi Retro,

Thanks for your encouragement on my diary .... thought I'd just pop over and see how you are fareing!! When you read other people's diaries it's almost reassuring to see that life is full of ups and downs for everyone. One step forward, two steps back and all that. I hope your cat is going to be ok.

I had a puncture in my tyre this month, an unexpected bill I could have done without. On the plus side though I have maanegd to get OH really engaged with paying off our debt (may have something to do with the promise of a motorbike when we are debt free ;) ). Whatever it takes .....

January seems to have been a long month and I think the hardest one on the DFW journey. We are all motivated post Christmas but the enthusiasm wains after a few weeks and it's a credit to us all that we are still on here posting and supporting each other. New month, new spreadsheet, new spending diary and this months cash in my purse to be careful with! Like you, I read the diaries to get inspiration and yours has spurred me on today to get on with my ebay listing. My pile of stuff has been sat there for ages and must be done!!!!

Your mum sounds so lovely .... :A, mine is too but has no idea how in debt we are. I just want to get it paid off so I can not worry about whether or not we lose our jobs, save up for a holiday and more than anything ..... stop wasting money on interest!!! I can't believe the hikes in rates that are going on. I feel lucky to have got almost all our debt onto 6.9% LOB transfers with Barclaycard and Amazon. Have you tried Virgin for a 0% til May 2010. I didn't think we'd be accepted but we did. Worth a try.

Hope you manage to have a productive day!

    NSD's for Feb 01/15 GC £0 / £300
  • Right then!

First day of February, and a mental kick up the bum.

Cat's vets cost £60 yesterday and has another appointment this week which will be at least £20 for the consultation with no treatment. Even more reason to sort some stuff out because I don't think we'll have enough cash for the bills now!

Did some decorating yesterday which has made me mentally happier at home. No more looking at half painted conservatory doors in the living room! Going to do a final coat on those today, and a start on the hall.

Going to get DH to research 0% credit cards to do some balance transfers. That will save us a fortune.

I'm going to sell my soul to Ebay for at least half of the day. Lots of business AND home stuff to list.

Not to mention 2 or 3 job application deadlines tomorrow!

    Mini Goals from last month...

Make £10 a day in Jan brought in £523.39 out of the £310 target. Wonderful. Would have been better if I had a job & that was on TOP of my salary. Instead it's quite meager for a month's earnings! Hope to do the same in Feb if not better.

Coin jar has £10.56 in! Weight loss 15lbs/7kgs. May be a little more, but I haven't checked.

    Mini Goals for Feb:

    - Get a job!
    - £10 a day = £280
    - 10 NSD's!
    - Have the business closed & accounted for

  • Hey - just been catching up on your diary!! Didn't realise you were from Birmingham as well - just taking a guess but it wasn't Vinyl Toys that you used to sell was it?

Well done on the decorating - I'm bad as I still get my parents to do mine!! Well done on still making money in January - that's quite a high target you've reached without actually working!! Good luck on finding a new job - have you got any ideas of what you want to apply for now?

Yes, it was vinyl toys. :D Lol, do you know me?! EEEEK! Haha.

Yep, I have lots lined up on the job front. Today I applied for a Marketing Admin job in the City, which would be absolutely perfect. Also closing this week I have a job in the Police to apply for and the DWP. There is a probation officer position ending next week I believe. A few options at least!

  • Ha ha - don't worry I don't know you - I just know the shop!! My OH is really into Vinyl Toys (You might know him tbh he was in there a lot!) and the bar I work in is based in the CF so I used to always walk past it!!

Good luck with the jobs - sound like you've got a few options there!! :)

  • Elizabeth - I'm glad you've heard of us! :D

NSD on Monday for me. Not sure I made a particular effort, as the snow kept me away from spending. Haha.

Tuesday I did need to get cat food (on offer), and did treat ourselves to a cheeky carvery! Really couldn't help it, DH was home from work due to the snow, and it's cheaper in the day! Well that's my excuse.

Today has been interesting. Got woken up at a ridiculous hour (far too early to get out of bed without a need to) by my old boss asking if I'd like to come back to work, as someone had left. Given my current quandry (no job!) I said yes.

Later decided to do it 'temping' until they find someone permanent. I can still get a better job too.

Also planning to kick my lodger out (bro-in-law). DH & I can't live with him anymore. £240 a month doesn't cover the stress/crap/hassle he gives us! :/
