  • No need for me at the old job today. Quite glad as it's Friday! So far today I've done all my online tasks, and applied for 2 jobs. I have a couple more sites to check, but most new vacancies will be coming through on Monday now.

I really do need to start some chores and decorating but this cold is making me lazy! I have no energy. When DH gets home he'll kick me up the bum & no doubt we will have a productive weekend! :D

If they're GHD's - mine were fixed thanks to GHD spares. com!! Sent me a new wire and bob's your uncle ;)

  • Been a bit of a rollercoaster since my last update. Temping has finished at my old place, not as long as I'd liked. But hey, can't complain. As long as they pay me in good time.

Have found a few more jobs this week that close next week. One I particularly have my eye on, only negative is I would need the car so DH would need a vehicle. Luckily he'd be quite happy with an old beetle, so wouldn't cost a fortune. I have an interview next week with an agency that only supply to local government, which is exactly where I want to be! Plus I wouldn't need a car since DH already works there! Got the job papers last night, haven't looked through those yet. Fingers crossed.

Spent a bit too much last weekend. I need to beg the Bank of Mom for £30 today so I can send Ebay things until Paypal comes through on Tuesday. Did go to local favourite window company and got a quote for windows, £2300! Which is amazing! So we plan to save over the summer to get those just before Autumn arrives.

Did have 2 NSD's this week, Mon & Tues, and hopefully again today. Will mark 2 down on my sig for now.

Have been slacking with my £10 a day for many reasons. Got £7.38 for MS'ing in Jan. Have some payments being transferred from Paypal at the moment, should arrive Tuesday. Lodger is moving out at the end of the month, so will lose a chunk of money. Need to work harder!

DH applied for 0% Virgin Card (16 months!) and should have a response by the beginning of next week.

Sunny day here today, so will knuckle down & get some more things on Ebay & do that job hunting. :D

A big positive for yesterday, I won a 2 night break in a lovely hotel in Cumbria! Not sure when to take it yet, but will be saving up some spending money for that too. :j

  • Ooo nothing like a free hotel!! Bet you have a lovely weekend away just you and the OH!! Those are my favourite types of weekends! :)

I might be away this Valentines though it won't be romantic as it's for some event in Derby that the OH wants to go to, but it's nice just to get out of Birmingham every now and then!!!

By the way have you been checking gumtree Birmingham for jobs? Just I know the NEC are looking for cashiers next tues - fri for some event they've got on! It'd be £60 a day, not an ideal job of course but a bit of extra cash either way!! :)

Oooo! Excellent! DH has decided he would like to go for his birthday which is ironically May 11th!

It's called Winder Hall in Low Lorton. I've never been to that particular area before (we always head South!) so we're so excited! Especially to have something nice to look forward to. :D

I do check Gumtree. You really come across some odd things, but I did see the request for Crufts cashiers in early March. Crufts! I would love it! I doubt I'd get any work done... :rotfl:

  • A couple of NSDs to end last week for me. Probably another today since I have literally no money! EEEK! Had to lend £50 for my car insurance & post office trip at the weekend.

DH got rejected for the Virgin Card. We really are just maxed out. Need to work so hard on getting this debt down so we can have some flexibility with offers like that. So gutted to have to pay Cap One's insane interest rate. DH is fuming.

On a positive, I have an interview on Thursday with an agency that solely supply temps to the local council, which is where I'd like to be! Also found a superb WM Police vacancy which ends this week so will fill that in at some point, with fingers crossed.

Spent the whole weekend Ebaying for home & business. Accountant quoted us £750 for doing the end of business accounts and corp tax returns. £750! Really shocked about that. So now we have to try to get that along with money for the bills at the end of the month.

Talking of bills. N Power 'dual fuel' bill came through. They're merging my 2 DD's, one of which comes out on the 4th, the other (&more expensive) on the 6th. So I figured both would go on the 6th instead... Nope. FIRST of the month. Not pleased at all. That's another £100 to find in 2 weeks, rather than 2 weeks and 6 days. Not to mention I've spent £300 on gas in the last 3 months, so my £160 in credit has turned into £8 in debit. Grr. New windows & doors are definitely on the list for the summer.

Have already finished washing, done some ironing, listed 16 things on Ebay, checked bank acc's, and saw Mum before she went on hol this morning. I must be on a roll!

This afternoon I will get out into the garden & pot a few things up I've been putting off for weeks due to the weather. In the sun it's actually WARM here today!

  • Hi Retro

Well done on the NSD’s!! (You reminded me that yesterday was one for me! off to change siggy!)

:( at Virgin card – did he try the Smartsearch first on Money supermarket – its not a full credit check but a clever check on how you’ve done recently which gives more of an idea of the cards you’ll be accepted to? I did this before applying for the MBNA one and got it. I think the Virgin one is SOOO popular, - that probably doesn’t help.

Good luck for Interviews and the police applicancy!!

I know what you mean about bills – I swapped supplier and am intrigued to see what they come in at. A positive note is the summer months are on their way and also I keep reading about energy bills coming down (fingers crossed)…. Talking of which I’d like to know why petrol is sneaking back up whilst oil is at is lowest price per gallon for a long time! Bloomin profit makers whilst we’re all poor!!

Sounds like you’re getting on very well with your day to day things – much better than I do!! My weekends seem to fly by and I don’t get half of what I want done!!

Hope the rest of your day is good!

    Emms x
