I have a start date!
MONDAY!
This Monday! 3 days away!!! I'm off to panic & do all the things that I need to do before starting! I thought I'd get a week's notice at least so I'm not ready in the slightest! My house is a tip, I don't have a full wardrobe of Manager's clothes, I need a haircut, I need various things waxed, I need a work bag, I need food for work lunches... so many things!
The only downside is I didn't get my first choice location, so I won't be working in the same town as DH. Which means eventually we will have to get a 2nd car. But for the Summer at least, he's back on his bicycle!
But I have a 'real' 'proper' 'career' job that I'm starting on Monday! I'm SO bloody nervous. I doubt I'm going to sleep until then!

Hooray...........

How exciting.....you'll be fine, don't worry about the waxing (that made me giggle that you needed waxing before you start!!)
I'm back to work on Monday....haven't been in since March 13th, so I'm really looking forward to it! I do love my job (I'm a primary TA), it was just hard when ill, but fab when feeling well:p
Look forward to hearing all about your 1st day:beer:I really need to sort out a new signature!0 -
Milly - LOL! I wax everything, arms, upper lip, eyebrows... it just gives me confidence (rather than me being uber hairy)

Work is amazing! I'm really really really enjoying it. It sounds cliche but everyone is really nice. I can't say it's too much hard work at the moment as I'm observing & reading training manuals. Then for the next 6 weeks I'm barely in the office for 5 days as I'm training in the city!
I've spent quite a bit over the last week. I've officially got a work wardrobe. Had to fill my car up with petrol. Forgot what to buy for work lunches (!) so that cost a bit. When I've not actually eaten much of it all week.
I haven't dipped into my spreadsheet all week so I plan to do that tonight. I also haven't done HR things at work yet such as when I'll get paid etc. Doing that tomorrow, so I can then make plans for the coming weeks.
I *LOVE* getting up early in the morning & seeing DH before work. He's making a sausage sandwich whilst I type!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Great to hear you've started - it all sounds good, so glad things are on the up for you!!
Had to read back a bit as I've been lame at getting on here myself - you reminded me one of my main reasons was the garden - I made a mass indent on my weed invasion last week too!! So good to get it all up to date!!
I will be checking in much more regularly - promise!!

Another belated update. My excuse is our 'net was down. We've moved the PC upstairs from the living room & the wireless was not pleased. Though all is back to normal now.
Have been making LOTS of money related decisions this week, though have been doing a lot of spending (*eeek). I must get back on the band wagon this week/weekend.
- Have decided against a 2nd car. Bought DH a new bike (half price in Halfords, only £99.99!) because his old one had buckled wheels etc! He has kindly agreed to cycle until at least Oct/Nov so we don't have to have the expense of a 2nd car right away. Even then he might carry on until Christmas. He's quite liking the effect it's having on his bod! (And so am I!
)
- Internet usage is heavily restricted at work & even stumbling on a page that could be chat related could get me sacked! So have signed up to an Orange contract for mobile broadband. Not only do we need a netbook/laptop at home due to the business laptop dying of Conficker, but I can happily access the net at work. The deal is £29-something a month, with a free £300 Compaq netbook which is the one we were thinking of buying outright. Have signed up through Quidco which has netted me £70 cashback (after 3 months). It is a 24 month contract, so minus the £70, and £300 for the laptop, the 'net cost is £14-something a month which isn't too bad at all. 3G allowance, which is around 7 hours surfing a day. On a good day at work I get 1 hour and 40 mins break, so it will come in handy! I find I'm reluctant to sit on the net as soon as I get home, so at least doing my 'leisure' surfing at work, it will be better time management - which is something I need to look into lately!!!
Have only put around £1k onto Mum's CC that she handed to me to 'save' me this month. Mainly due to work actually paying me this month! I wan't expecting pay for 6 weeks, but apparently I'll be getting a cheque sent out for me tomorrow. 10 days work, net salary £452! I'm very pleased.
Have been purchasing some DIY items that we've been putting off for a while.
A long story, but I won't go into too much detail... we hoped to close the business & have already had the accountant prepare final accounts due to HSBC *thinking* it was ok. 6 weeks of no contact & we had everything prepared. HSBC have now said no, we must remain as a current company, and we CANNOT close. £750 accountant fees down the drain. I'm going to write a very long, angry complaint letter.
So the business must remain open. With accountant's fees added on top of it's outgoing's already, I have to think of a new business plan... because I refuse to pay it's debts!
So will also have thinking cap on this weekend.
I think that's long enough!!!Debt @ LBM 29/12/08 - £49044! Today I got a cheque for working April 20th-30th! I wasn't expecting to be paid, but I have! £452. It's an utterly wonderful feeling I'll never forget. I think I'm going to frame my first payslip!

I made my first payment into my pension!
Did a food shop last night, so shouldn't have to get anything other than basics for 2 weeks.
Going to town tomorrow to set up a joint account for the bills. We'll both pay half into it each month, to cover everything, even things that go out once every 3 months. Then at the end of the month we can pay anything left in there off a credit card.
Going to try to convert the 'garage' or at least start, this weekend. This will be turned into our office/studio. I'm sick of having Ebay stuff all over my house! Jiffy envelopes everywhere, bubble wrap with cats in the middle! We've costed it to under £300 & having everything in one place should make the whole process so much easier. I'm really fired up into getting back into Ebay knowing anything I make on there will go straight off debt!Debt @ LBM 29/12/08 - £49044! The image of cats in between bubble wrap just made me giggle!!
Fab to hear you got paid when not expecting it!! And I know the feeling on framing your payslip - I'll join you there when I get a job!!
How did you get on with joint account? and did you make a start on converting the garage?LBM - 17th November 2008 - better late than never

Got a big fat NO! for the joint account application. A nice reminder that our credit really is on the brink of doom. Really need to sort this out asap now.
Didn't make a start on the garage, DH helped his Sister's BF lay laminate flooring all weekend. Though hopefully he will return the favour in a fortnight to 'blast' the garage with DH. A fair trade-off I think.
DH's birthday on Monday. Not sure what to do so far.
Am training in the City this week & is costing me £4.50 a day on the train. Cheaper than parking, so a good money saving step I think!Debt @ LBM 29/12/08 - £49044!
