I am really trying not to go to Tescos these days, but there are some things I cannot buy elsewhere, or they are actually cheaper in Tesco, so only call in for those things.

I have been buying their discounted brand farmhouse bread as it was quite a bit cheaper at 84p than Tesco finest at £1.17, but this weekend went in and it had gone up to £1. That's nearly a 20% increase in the matter of a week or so - disgusting. I have a breadmaker which is unused (my lovely aunt gave it to me) and am now seriously considering making my own!! Need to read instructions first though and never seem to find the time to get around to it.:D

My husband is the sole user of our breadmaker, he is better at reading instructions and weighing things :D The bread is lovely.

Ok I think I've found the ultimate Tesco ripoff price - I know they are expensive and I hate them but they still managed to genuinely shock me with this one:

    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/ProductDetails.aspx?Store=1&Product=18551

340g of sun pat peanut butter for almost THREE POUNDS!!

That's more than 4 times more expensive than Asda's own brand (700g for £1.48). And double anyone else's price (even Waitrose!)
i saw that a while ago in my metro, and thought it was just the metro extra price. dint realise it was standard.

    that is VILE!

I'm getting really annoyed with tesco now! Everything I want seems to be out of stock or had doubled in price in the past week or 2! I tried to but porridge last week but the 1kg bag was £1.49  and no value/market value fruit or veg other than potatoes and onions (and no space for them any more) and the cheaper brands seem to change randomly in name and price week to week. I'm trying to eat healthily on a budget and tesco are not helping at all... I ended up only buying potatoes as I had a voucher for 35p off a £1 spend on veg. :rotfl:

Tried sainsburys and their porridge was 85p for 1.5kg (almost a third of the price of Tescos rip off :T ) and loads of reasonably priced fruit and veg and other stuff. Far better and no rise in my blood pressure as I find out the random pricing that I get from Tesco. :rotfl:

I find I am shop around a lot more than before and am pleasantly surprised!
i agree sains veg is waaaaaaaay better standard and doesnt start goin off within 2 days. their steak selection is also much better quality than the trash i used to waste my money on in tesco.

i wish i never started shoppin @ tesco and wish i stuck with sains.

Okay maybe I am getting obsessed with this but with 4 cats one due to have kittens any day now the price of cat food is important to me :D. Bought a tray of 12 Kit e kat on Tuesday and it was £4.35, was in again today and saw it is now £6.09!!! On the plus side their own brand has come down a bit and is £5 again.

  • how about this one winalot 400g tin of duck and rabbit dog food. £1.24.
the other tins in the range 400g 43p. 800g tins £1.24. multi pack of six including two tins of duck and rabbit £2.48.

thats 300% markup. on a tin. they scanned at £1.24 as well. cs said its the price head office had set for it and there was nothing they could do.

Maybe Winalot had a bad harvest of ducks and rabbits...Seriously though, there have been a few bad harvests last year on various crops, but I think the Supermarkets, or rather some supermarkets are just making the most of this with ridiculous price increases. Let's just hope the cereal crops do better this year or prices will get even more crazy.

My cats think the same of their own brand as what I think about Tesco - absolutely rubbish:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have you got a Petsworld near you - I saved nearly £3 on 24 tins there!!! Or an independent animal pet store - could be worth having a look and I'd rather give it to the independent store than Tesco even if it was the same price!!!
