The ones I was thinking of are Fudco brand. 250g for £1.07 which works out 42p/100g.

I wonder if the hamster food is edible for us lol

    Tesco Sunflower Seeds 300g

    £2.24

interesting, because they were still £3.11 on the shelf a couple of days ago. Were 45p. I've had an exchange of emails with Tesco over this...

    and as posted previously ...

Sunflower seeds - 300g pack were 45p. The next week they've gone up to £2.96.
I contacted Tesco and they said it had been a poor harvest and they had to pass the price on to the consumer. My googling found no indication of a bad harvest. Tesco never replied to my email re harvest.

Instead bought my supply in local Health food store at £3.23 a kilo.

well today I set foot in there and they've gone up again to £3.11. From 45p in November.
But they had some fudco ones at 99p for 250g, which I bought 6 packs of, but wish I hadn't, as dearer than HFS by 73p a kilo and not as plump.

Ok, I am not obsessed by sunflower seeds but today I see- holland and barratt sunflower seeds 500g £2.25 and bogof = £2.25 a kilo -

and again , I am not obsessed, but... :rotfl:

Price in the link is now 1.57. I only ever buy Lidl's Peanut butter, but even that is now 99p!

Wow they changed the price - I can assure everyone that the price did say £2.96.

I've also seen the price labels in store so not a mistake.

I guess I just proved that Tesco staff monitor these forums.

I'm getting really annoyed with tesco now! Everything I want seems to be out of stock or had doubled in price in the past week or 2! I tried to but porridge last week but the 1kg bag was £1.49  and no value/market value fruit or veg other than potatoes and onions (and no space for them any more) and the cheaper brands seem to change randomly in name and price week to week. I'm trying to eat healthily on a budget and tesco are not helping at all... I ended up only buying potatoes as I had a voucher for 35p off a £1 spend on veg. :rotfl:

Tried sainsburys and their porridge was 85p for 1.5kg (almost a third of the price of Tescos rip off :T ) and loads of reasonably priced fruit and veg and other stuff. Far better and no rise in my blood pressure as I find out the random pricing that I get from Tesco. :rotfl:

I find I am shop around a lot more than before and am pleasantly surprised!

  • This might be a problem with supermarkets as they keep rleatively low levels of stock for their size. They are more prone to volatile prices compared to smaller retailers that keep larger stocks.

You might have hit on a useful tool ilikepoints - when prices are volatile shop around - Win stay / Lose shift - we might do that anyway but...

We need to all keep monitoring and posting so that people learn how tesco operates. i never go in there now, and I feel sick when I realise how much money I have spent over the last ten years when I went every week !

Scot's Porage Oats are £1 a kilo in iceland - sounds a good deal in sainsbury's though.

I'm surprised that they are so expensive in Tesco for local food. That said the local shop is 99p for 500g so they are maybe forcing the price down a fair bit.
