Is it wrong to sometimes dilute whole milk with water to put on cereal if i'm on a diet, instead of buying skimmed milk?

I'm not always such a cheapskate though, usually buy 1% fat milk (orange top) from Sainsburys for £1/2L

I have started buying powdered milk for stockpiling. Managed to make the kids breakfasts with it without them noticing, in sauces and for making bread in the bread machine. It works out cheaper than fresh milk, 22p a pint versus 38p fresh.

Also 7.5kg potatoes in brown paper bag were £2.99 but now £1.99.
    .

I know this is quite old, but it's worth checking out farm shops if you have them near you and use a lot of potatoes - we just got 25kg for a fiver.

Farmfoods - Leeks are good value.....I think they are £1.98 a kilo from supermarket? They do them frozen in FF, for 99p a kilo. We only use them in cooking anyway, so won't make much difference, and no bits need trimming off (oh isn't it bliss when convenience food works out cheaper :rotfl: )
I'll check the ingredients list twice next time though. Bought a litre bottle of ketchup for 99p thinking, yay, great........and to be honest, it is tasty......but it has red food colouring in it.

Tesco, I'm disgusted with. I last went in there a couple of weeks ago, for a few groceries, and ended up walking out with a ladyshave on offer (which I needed) and a cheap box of wine. As far as groceries go, they have nothing I want anymore.

Turn up for the books, as I used to do a lot of shopping at Tesco. Now? Sainsburys are cheaper for a lot of things. A bit of role reversal there, for you!
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Thanks for pointing that out, those are the ones I normally buy, but I'm popping to Asda tomorrow, so I'll see how much theirs are.

Thanks. Is that the wholewheat ones, or just the normal ones?

Yeah but to be fair the cost of the air ticket would outweigh any savings to be had with the porage.

Oh dear! You're obviously not converting Tesco's green points to airmiles effectively.

absolutely fuming at Mr T over the weekend.

Wholewheat fusilli twists (500g) used to be around 70-75p. Now they are priced at a whopping £1.39!!!!!!!!

went to Morrison's and got them for 68p. Hmph. I am officially finished with Tesco. ASDA is equally as near as us and I've started shopping there more and more.

I always buy the Organic Wholewheat pasta - noticed yesterday that Penne is 78p/500g, Fusilli is 89p /500g and Conchiglie is £1.39/500g! I have noticed in the past that one of the varieties is often ridiculously overpriced, so I always look at the alternatives.

Gingervamp - we only eat wholewheat pasta nowadays. ASDA's showing it at 78p for 500g - scary thing is 1KG is £1.17 which is cheaper than Mr T's 500g! (at £1.39)

Ridiculous. And they're trying to promote healthy eating!?

One of my real bugbears. I go into tesco and see anything even remotely healthy skyrocketing in price. After retuning from market on Sat I went into tesco and did a price check. my weekly FRUIT (ONLY) spend would have cost over £30 in tesco!!!! Yes I like my fruit but that is stupid

On the other hand there are aisles and aisles of offers on pure junk food, such as easter eggs, chocolate, biscuits and ready meals, which frankly should be banned.
  • Tesco Complete Dry Cat Crunchies, think it is 1.5K was £1.89 now £2.49
