Another Tesco Massive Price Increase
Comments

I buy tesco own brand pedal bin liners for my brabantia bin....they were 3.79 with a draw string top and fairly robust bags...they are now 4.19 with no drawstring, but just holes which rip as you try to remove the bag, and bad quality which just rips....0

Well stop going to Tesco - seriously guys they suck !!!.0

Just from a purely business sense here, Tesco et al are retailers, businesses they have shareholders, overheads and suppliers to pay. Remember that suppliers are able to change prices as well, also staff wages are on the increase, why should Tesco et al absorb the cost. We all complain about prices but Tesco are a sucessful British business and are the largest private employer in the UK
Tesco et al have every right to change prices as they see fit, if you do not like Tesco et al increasing/decreasing prices then dont shop there.
However on a good note, i noticed that "Roberts" Thick Bread was £1.04 - down from £1.40 in Asda! And no I do not work for Tesco,

Sweetstudent what you have said does not explain the bizarre price changes. Also supermarkets pay rubbish wages I was on the checkouts at |Sainsburys over xmas and was paid £6.03 an hour0

One thing to look out for in Tescos is the "bulk" packs of stuff costing more than smaller packs.
I've seen this a lot in Tescos,
The ones I've seen recently are cheese slices (2 ten packs were about 10p cheaper than the 20 pack)Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

My partner works at sainsburys and i worked there after i was made redundant from my previous occupation and it was one of the worst places i have worked at.
Anyway what i am saying is true -
For example if sainsburys have at any onetime 15,000 staff working - assuming they are all on £6.03 sainsburys are paying out everyhour - £90,450 , whether or not sainsburys have customers or not!
Of course supermarkets pay rubbish wages, its Retail, one of lowest paid sectors and incidentally has the high concentration of women (thats what my dissertation recorded anyway!!) But we are going off on a tangent here, at the end of the day its a business and the first duty is to the shareholders not to the customers, even though supermarkets are essentially a oligopoly people still have choice.:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

I think the paucity of clubcard deals and apparent defection of many hardcore collectors to supermarkets that are IMO far cheaper may be having a detrimental effect on Tesco's bottom line. Asda has IME always been far cheaper than Tesco, borne out by them winning cheapest supermarket award for many years running. And. I think the previous poster made a very good point about all the land Tesco bought with the express intention of doing nothing with apart from stopping other supermarkets developing nearby to its store really may have come back to bite old Sir Terry on his derriere. Certainly hope so.Call me Carmine....

That's nonsense. Have you not read how Tesco dictate prices they pay due to their size and how they have put companies out of buisness by dropping them when they don't toe the line.0 -
As I've said in other posts Tesco are now running very, very scared of Aldi with all their claims of "Britains Biggest Discounter" and the stupidly named "brands" they have introduced.0

Again that is true and IMHO wrong. However there are bound to be certain suppliers will be able to withstand corporate bullying (using this term to avoid libel):beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year
