  • Basmati rice 1 kg was 79p, 99p, 1.29 and now 1.49!
  • Hmmm Sainsbury's will be much cheaper I'm sure;) (I am being sarcastic!)
Yes this is nothing new Tesco's do it all the time, they have promotions on (like their fruit and veg pledge) and BOGOF's on junk like pizza's and dairylea dippers or dunkers or whatever they are called and then sneakily raise the price of other staples to counteract it hoping you won't notice

A curious post in my opinion :confused: In my experience where I live Sainsbury is a heck of a lot cheaper than Tesco - indeed Tesco is the most expensive of the "big four" by a pretty significant margin - that's why I rarely shop there :confused:

Sainsbury were definitely more expensive until Tesco decided to use the excuse of fuel going up to increase their prices more than any other supermarket. I know that people are peed off with all the supermarkets but Tesco are the worst of a grasping bunch.

depends what I want- you have to be prepared to go to several supermarkets to get the best deasl and prices:

    Highlights hot chocolate,
    Tescos 39p a packet, Sainsburys, 31p a packet.

    Melon salad, 400grams,
Tescos 2 for £1.50 or £2 each, Sainsburys £2.49 each and no deals/offers
  • kelloggs cornflakes large size, now £2.99 from £2.59.
own brand cat food from about £3.74 to £5.00 for multi pack of 12.
i have 4 cats and 3 dogs and i try to pickup any offers anywhere i can. Morrisons have multipack of 24 for j
ust over £7.00 so i will use morrisons for cat food
i am going off Tesco as their offers are not what they seem,i've bought stuff on offer and the quality was awful.

How about this? Tesco 6 pack of crusty white rolls, 39p up til a day or two ago. Now 65p!! Thought it may have been local as our store only been open around a month but showing as new price on web. Thats an increase of getting on towards 75%. How come the bread loaves aren't 75% dearer? Really cross about this - no way could they ever justify such an increase. Makes me want to complain to their head office!

    Now back down to 37p!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:j

I heard that Tesco have been struggling recently and that is why their prices are going up. I wonder if it has anything to do with them buying up all that land in the last few years? Now property prices are falling they're probably feeling the burn more than the others.

Personally I've never liked Tesco anyway so I'm not bothered, I never shop there.

Tesco own brand cat food up from 32p to 43p per can.
Aldi 33p. If they can compare, so can I.

it makes me laugh how so much stuff can go up so quickly, like most though the ones where they jump up and then come back down making it look like a saving are the ones that annoy me most. tescos is really bad at this at the moment, found several things like cat and dog food & also crisps seem to be on the up at the moment!
