personally i think tescos have lost the plot, i know for a fact they certainly have lost most of my custom.
Tesco have lost a huge amount of customers :j and they know it which is why they've taken on the lower end supermarkets, Aldi / Netto / Lidl.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional
  • TBH they are all as bad as each other and the examples above, and most store prices on the staples especially can only suggest there is price fixing.
  • Nice one keith99, glad its helped someone.

The only way to get the best prices these days is to shop around but who has the time or inclination. I used to be a mostly tesco shopper but now find I drift around from one retailer to another. This for me is probably the worst way to shop as I tend to spend more as I find more 'bargains'.

I just wish tesco were more competitive on my 'staples' which are necessary for me to buy regularly but not on everyones 'staples' list.

  • Does anyone use the Tesco Price comparison site before doing their shopping?

    http://www.tesco.com/todayattesco/pricecheck.shtml

It compares Tesco prices with those in Sainsbury, Morrisons and Asda

Unfortunately, I've only got a Co-op and Tesco on my doorstep, but it's useful for when I do travel a wee bit further
  • No, I use www.mysupermarket.com instead. But that's only for staples. I am very flexible on what I buy; I look out for BOGOFs and yellow stickers!!

well just visited tescos yesterday- the same hotchocolate I had seen at 45p a double sachet has gone down from 45p to 29p !! but other varieties of the flavor are still 45p, its just the milk-chocolate version that is 29p. Am pleased as I don't like the other flavors, but if you do, then stick to sainsburys where they are still 31p there.
  • So determined not to let Mr. Tesco get us but when we got home after only a very small shop we had paid 59p for a lettuce. We obviously did not check the price instore because thats what it is online. Asda and Sainsburys still 47p. Still........... may be tomorrow or a few days time it will come back down just like the tuna and also Value Line flour which went up from 33p to 43p last week and is now back down to 33p!

    snipped

I usually use 'Mysupermarket' to cross check against Tesco, but I do wonder how accurate the prices actually are:

http://www.tesco.com/todayattesco/pricecheck.shtml shows the cheapest as 21p, BUT
    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/Shopping/FindProducts.aspx?Query=chopped%20tomato&SortBy=3 shows Tesco's cheapest as 33p

(may I just confirm I am not some sort of mad tomato fetishist :o , the enormous price rise has annoyed me.)
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Tesco frying chips (big bag) from 99p to £1.54, over 50%
    Iceberg lettuce 84p to 99p, around 17%
Various wines increased, no doubt to cover the cost of 25% off when you buy 6.
However i did find 1 item i buy weekly has gone done by a whole 1p.
Also petrol down 2p a litre. Hang on, werent supermarkets blaming the ever rising oil price for the big rises?
