ANCASTA - Big hugs to you. I hope whatever you have to deal with can be done as painlessly as possible so you can get on with planning your wedding.

SQUEAKY- Yum.re.the curry sauce. I've got a job lot of onions and you've just inspired me to make some of it.

DSD (darling step daughter 10) here today so we are all going to be trimming the tree together for the first time ever. God bless family politics  My 3 love her to bits and always have a good time when shes here.

Going to do a pressie inventory today when getting the tree from the loft as thats where all the crimbo bits have been getting chucked when back from shopping. Will prob find that I have twice as much as needed for one and nothing for another! So wrapping is the mission for today.

Also going to start the loft clearout now that we have the go ahead for moving again. I got theletter from the agents yesterday to confirm our offer has been accepted and the house is off the market for us :j Just in time too, now I can ask all the neighbours and rellies to save the boxes from xmas pressies for me ;)

Off now to get the sprogs kitted up for the trip to collect DSD, backsoon,

    Al.

    Morning all :rudolf:

Well, I've been a busy bee this weekend. Unfortunately, it does seem to have entailed me spending too much money.

Yesterday morning, I went to a "coffee and mince pies" morning held by my supply teaching agency. That bit was at least free(ish).

Every Christmas I meet up with my old university housemates, and being the only one who doesn't live in London they tell me where we have the meal. I parked at my friend's flat (free parking), got transport into the centre of town, and then went for a very expensive meal in a french restaurant. Ok, so it was nice, but the portions were miniscule! The amount that I paid for my food and drink last night was the equivalent of nearly 2 weeks of food shopping for OH and I!!! I'll try to suggest that we go somewhere a bit cheaper next time. Or perhaps I should do some research and offer to book!

Today we're off to a rugby match. I'm looking forward to it as it'll be a bit of rest and relaxation (until they drop the ball and I get passionately into the game).

OH bought some sausages from the farmers' market yesterday, so I think we'll be having those for supper tonight. Mmmmm. I fancy having them with mushrooms, onions and beans. :D

    Take care.

Ancasta- hope your ok, don't stay away too long.

Well still feeling depressed today but not like yesturday thankfully.
OH has dissapeared to football, tried to sort out or money with him yesterday, oh what fun. The trouble is he thinks he is really good with money, he's good at saving it, eg puting it into a savings account and refusing to take it out, no matter what is needed unless it a portable dvd player or a sat nav or whatever he feels he wants, but a new fridge freezer, certainly not, I have to buy the damn thing on credit  , so it didn't go well at all, I want to start putting a little aside each month for xmas, birthdays insurance, and other things we need, but apparent ly there is no bl**dy point.
Yes we do live well, on what we earn, but with me giving up work to look after the children, I am going to have a lot less money £350 short a month, so I wont be able to afford the kids new clothes, new appliances, birthdays ect. which means it will have to come out of his wages easier said than done.
ANy ways off to my mums to poick up dd6yo , will stay for a few hours and maybe help her get some h/w done, although she is still refusing to de clutter  I wouldn't mind , but is all she does is moan about the mess.
    sorry to have a rant
    hugs to all

    Hi everyone.

Had a great money-saving day yesterday. Went to local tip with hubby to drop off usual cardboard, plastic bottles etc for recycling, and saw a man unload 2 lovely wooden side tables from his car. I was really brave, and asked him if he was going to throw them into the skip, and if I could have them instead! He didn't seem to mind, and wouldn't take any money for them, so I did really well there! Apparently it's OK to do that, but you can't remove any items which are already in a skip, as they are then the property of the council.

We bought the Christmas tree yesterday too, and it cost £8 less than I had budgeted, so I'm pleased about that; most things end up costing more!

Good luck with sorting things out Ancasta, and hope you're feeling better, Tootles.

    Tiddles X

Hi all - we're just off to look at small freezers, and I'm going to do my first shop in Lidl. It'll be interesting to compare prices with Sainsburys when I get home. Later - laundry (including sorting stuff out for charity shops) and paperwork, then an early night (was reading till 6.00am and got up at 11.00am so some catching-up to do).

Feeling better thanks tiddles, still depressed over the caravan though, we worked so hard to get it but the running expenses for the big car and the van are really dragging us down and its better that they go rather than we go deeper into debt......we are making headway but living on a fixed income it is very slow.

I managed out of bed by 10.30 this morning, have stripped the bed and put the stuff in the washer for tonight, last nights wash is in the dryer to go on tonight too. Have loaf on in the BM and the veg prepared for tonights supper.

OH is outside washing the car.........I did a bit of cash giggling last week, have drawn cash to last us until the end of January for shopping etc......need to put £25 in the tank this week......week after next we need to go to the market for fruit and veg for the holiday, we will have enough in the freezer to see us through to the end of Dec and I have the cash for the January shop.

This will be the start of a new OS era for us......we are still waiting to hear about the sheltered housing.... and also from our visit from the councillor last week.OH is keen to get on the allotment, step son has offered to take some slabs up to the allotment for us in his toyota so that will save us making several journeys in the car.....still waiting for the shed to go up so we can move up some of the equipment.

I am still coughing but not as much, at least the chest pains have gone.......

    Have a good day........

  • Afternoon all,

Firstly just wanted to say anyone effected by this mornings oil refinery fire hope you are ok and keep safe.

Had a lovely meal on friday night and came home a bit tipsy so slept in on sat morning only to be woken by O/H and kids dragging a very large christmas tree :xmastree: through the hallway followed by a trail of pine needles . The kids decorated it and the room now looks like santas grotto!!

Today has been spent generally chilling out but I still have the school uniforms to iron later. Well off to pop a chicken in the oven for dinner so have a good evening where ever you are.

  • Afternoon everyone :santa2:

Well I've had a lazy day today - I love Sundays.

Have just got my first wind :snow_laug and am about to stick some washing on, clean kitchen and bathroom and set about ironing one ENORMOUS pile!!!

I suggested that DH cooks dinner tonight :snow_laug - well he hasn't done it since I can't even remember!!

He can only cook OS as I haven't got anything in the house you can cheat with - everything from scratch :snow_laug

Well I must dash - take care everyone :santa2:

    Afternoon/evening/night?

Had a fantastic weekend away, good company, good entertainment and lots of people watching....along with the booze and the dancing (can't remember the last time I danced soooo much)

2 very late nights/early mornings have resulted in me feeling a little worse for wear now. Got home about 2ish this afternoon and apart from sticking a load of washing going and unpacking I've done nothing....and that's how it's going to stay. Did plan to put the tree up tonight but I'm so shattered I think it will be a very early night.

Normal OS service will resume at 7am tomorrow!

Hope you've all had a great weekend. :santa2:
