You could melt the candle end and cement it onto a old plate and then decorate with a ring of holly, laural, mistletoe etc. We have a five candle Advent ring in Church which is decorated like this and it looks great. HTH
We used to have one of those at the church I went to when I was little.

Do you sing "the song"? I sort of miss it since I rebelled and went all Anglo-Catholic :A

For the candle : Cut the neck and opening from a 2l "pop" bottle and put the candle in that, it makes a candelabra effect and can be decorated however you like. Plus bottles come in differing neck sizes so your bound to find something you like. Thats what i do if im suck for a holder.

Going to dash over to a lloyds chemist tonight to see if they still do the free diabetes tests... has anyone had a one at Lloyds?

Sitting here in tears as DDs have left coins in the pockets of their clothes and broken the washing machine - again!

DH is trying to sort it out but I am so sick of it all!

Spent most of yesterday trying to sort out electrical fault which I traced back to the kettle - now most of today wasted trying to sort out the washing machine!

Will probably have to dig out name of repairman and spend yet more time and money just because NO _ONE LISTENS!!!!!

Oh for a screaming, gibbering smilie!

This is the first time I've looked at the OS board, what a lot I've been missing! But I do now feel like a hopeless housewife, everyone seems so organised with washing, etc. I'm just hoping that there won't be all out rebellion when it's pasta again tonight, and where oh where did dd2 throw her Brownie uniform last week, and who's turn is it to do the clubs runs tonight - argh!

New Year Resolution - get a bit organised!

I've spent all day today helping DD to finish her home made nightdress(floor length white cotton with long sleeves).
She finished it about 30 minutes ago.Even DS thought it looked good.
She is getting the hang of the sewing machine properly now.
I wonder if all 15 year olds are so scatter brained?
Its been too wet to garden again.
I spent yesterday morning interweaving hawthorn branches in and out of the fence in an effort to discourage the little darlings (about 4, late teens)who enjoy using our gardens as a short cut .Interestingly, they didnt come last night,I wonder if it worked?
Todays tea will be HM bacon and pineapple pizza with peppers.
DS came home with a provisional driving licence application form so that should be interesting ;)

Managed to have a fairly efficient "pop" into town earlier, took DH's fancy dress costume back, bought a new cafetiere, picked up Grandfather's Xmas prezzie from WHSmiths, bought a couple of girlie bits for my niece to make sure I spent equal amounts on niece & nephew ( ) bought nice scarf & bottle of wine for my Aunt & some cheapie earrings to go with my Christmas party dress. I've also wrapped a few prezzies up, but still not decided what to have for dinner. The garage has just rung to say they've found the leak & I can have my car back tomorrow - yay! I never thought I'd miss little things like a parking sensor & 6th gear, but I'll be glad to get my wheels back.

hehehe, an Ol'style hair salon eh! You can have any style you like as long as it involves Amami setting lotion, 2 hours under a hood hairdryer and an old copy of People's Friend or People's Fiend as we used to call it:D I only do friends/family nowadays and deffo no cutting unless you still sport the purdy cut:eek:

Thanks everybody for being so lovely - I have cheered up a bit now.

Washing machine seems to be working now - fingers crossed.

Have finally stopped crying - it has just been one of those days when you feel you should have dug a hole - jumped in - then pulled it in after you.

Big hug to all of you.:A
