Good morning everyone!
Oh it's lovely to be back here! My computer lead melted, I'm blaming dd1 for overusing it, lol! Anyway the new one arrived today - so I can see how everyone is.
Had a lovely weekend in Brighton, the sun shone brightly for us and we ate and drank outside which was fantastic, and I caught up with loads of friends. Been busy doing house type stuff this week, nothing very exciting, but trying to gain some sort of order as usual.
BM and DW are busy at the mo, did everything else when I came home from work, so not too much to do today, which is fab cos it might give me time to catch up here!
Hugs to all in need and congratulations where they belong. xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning friends, yes its bitterly cold and windy here too, although the sun is shining, DH got shower cubicle installed yesterday but what a job it was!!!!
The language was choice as he wrestled to make it fit the corner, why are walls never straight? Still its in now and just to seal today. I have chosen the basin and will order that on Monday, but it will have to be a visit to B and Q tomorrow to buy a loo!!
Campervan is back on the road, its a good job DH can do his own repairs!
Cant wait tll tomorrow night, going to our Country club and DD1 s coming with us so we should have fun.
Today we are havng chinese chicken with savoury rice and i must pop to Asda for some shopping, DD2 and her OH have cleared the fridge.
Have got a pair of now redundant shower curtains still in good condition so i must get my thinking cap on for what to do with them as i dont want to bin them, any suggestions gratefully received.
Off now to take lttle dog out, have a lovely Friday all BSB xxx0 -
Hi bootsalebabe - how about a waterproof backing on an old fleece or blanket, you could then use it for picnics? Sure someone else will come up with some fab ideas, picnic blankets aren't much use at this time of year lol!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000

manflu strikes at b'mans house.. buy shares in lemsip now! ;-(Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
Tired-mum - very best of luck. I am waiting to hear if I will get an interview for a pt job I have applied for but you had to apply online and I didnt even get an acknowledgement of my application.
Mioliere - its very hard at the moment, our cashflow is terrible and because of the credit crunch there is no solution at the moment. Our business does make good money but as you know cashflow is vital. Good news though just spoken to our client and they will definately get the payment to us this week.
I used to sometimes worry being self employed but now dont, I know of people who are earning a lot of money being employed and are paranoid about their jobs going. I dont know anyone who is doing really well at the moment. Its definately very scary.
However being on this website does make a real difference, I can feed my family very cheaply and well, I wish I could work out what I have saved since I have been on here and there are people in the same boat so you never feel alone.
Thank you MSE :money:0 -
Well, when PMT and depression are combined they really do not make for a good mix.
So far.... I've made little bear's breakfast, given him plenty of cuddles and had a cup of tea. Not very inspiring.
Little bear managed to get hold of the landline phone and knock it down between the window sill and the tv cabinet (put there to allegedly keep it out of his reach!) and it got jammed. A tv cabinet with a large, elderly tv on top plus dvd player plus video plus sky box plus an assortment of dvds and videos locked inside is quite a job to shift. I was unimpressed. I do hope little bear doesn't remember any of the words I used
So, we didn't make mums and tots and I really haven't the energy to do more than take him to the newsagent this afternoon when it may be marginally warmer.
I am going to use a strategy that I have used successfully in the past. I do a few rows of knitting, then I do a very small amount of housework, then a few more rows of knitting, then a very small amount of housework.
I had better start soon, while little bear is happy in his playpen.
Hugs to all, especially to whatatwit. I think you have a lot on, so don't forget to look after yourself!Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Morning all,
Took DGS to the pool this morning. It's warming up now but the water was still pretty cold. He was a bit tentative. He starts swimming lessons on Monday for 10 weeks. I haven't told XDIL yet.
:whistle:Got home at lunch time & OS took him off home with him as he is working the weekend. Didn't want to go but the alternative was a rest with Ninny
so left. He's sleeping the night too. So you would think I've had a really busy afternoon. Wrong.
Laid on the bed and watched Oprah, gas bagged on the phone, surfed the net & read trashy magazines.
Had fish for tea which I crumbed. OS gave me some lovely barramundi. It was delish. Had it with chips & salad. Had rhurbarb & icecream for dessert.
Haribo Have a great time in Edinburgh.
Whatawit I've taken a few pictures. Not many turned up as before. Three actually. Two men & 1 rather butch woman.
Will download them sometime on the w'end.
Tired Mum Good luck & for you Essex-Girl on the interviews.
Meanmarie The dog idea sounds like a great idea.
Blairweech Hope you catch up on some sleep over the weekend.
Well DH out of the shower now, so my turn. Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs< to those that need them. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning Sybil - you are doing really well, don't put yourself down, many mornings all I can seem to do is grab a cup of tea and flop. You've achieved loads of stuff since you've been posting on here, not the least of which was taking your little bear out on your own. The knitting then housework sounds like a good plan, break it up into small bits, I try that too, but that's cos I hate doing it and it never seems quite so bad if I know I'm going to do something nice after a short burst of it!
Essexgirl and Moliere - I think you're both right, doesn't seem to matter if you're employed or self employed, everything seems wobbly at the moment. My oh works for a bank and they have huge changes going on there, at the mo he is making decisions about other people's futures, but it will probably be him next! He was made redundant a long time ago when our children were babes, and is finding it very hard having to do it to other people. Thank heavens for this board keeping us all sane and giving us somewhere to let of steam, worry or just chatter on about the everyday stuff that keeps things normal!
Still trying to catch up, but Smokey, your sil and half bro are in my prayers, and Marie, I hope that Ulick is much improved today xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Essex-girl - I'm glad you've had some good news about the payment. This credit crunch is no joke for anyone nowadays and it's the workers who bear the brunt of it.
I often think I should add up what MSE has saved me since I joined; it must be a fortune. It's also helped me earn some money, too. I just wish it had been around years ago. It helps knowing that others are going through the same worries and the fact that we can all share our money-saving ideas and advice is brilliant. I thought I was careful with money before MSE but this site has changed my life completely. I enjoyed telling DH that our dinner last night, chicken curry with rice, cost about 50p for the two of us!
Well, I've just pegged the washing out; it will dry in no time in this strong wind.
Off to do some office work.
See you all later.

Morning all,
Frost on the windscreen of the care when I went out to take DGS2 to school at 8.25....so glad I no longer have to go to work and leave at 7.15...and its only early October!
DS3 rang this am to say that he had been on to tiler ( who hasn't appeared since Saturday ) and that he is 'dying' with the flu, unable to finish floor before Monday at earliest....he is going to look for someone else to do it....DD2 is coming with her little girls on Wednesday for 2 weeks so I really need it done before then!
Have a good day all, mackerel, squash and beans for dinner to-day...only squash bought so about €1 for dinner for 3...getting there I think
