u can certainly watch hd channels thru the magic eye as i have as recently as last night, but as i said in earlier post, it wont be in hd though just standard sd, Dave

As I said previously, any channel that you watch through a magic eye/tv link is only available in standard definition regardless if you have a Hd televison in your second room.

I cant get it for any lower than £59 which is £49 for the box and £10 installation.
  • Thats a good price considering that the price for Hd was £399 & they now have it down to £150 with £60 install.
You can't be lost if you don't know where you're going.
  • Its down to £75 with a £30 install until the end of Oct.

Besides you are paying them £10/month for the box, so they can offset the cost of the install/box easily enough.

Except you never did say that!

There are ways to watch in full HD on secondary sets if you want to; this can be done either by HDMI splitter, making sure it's HDCP compliant; or by HDMI over Cat5/6 for longer distances. If you have a look around there's plenty of info. out there. www.avforums.com is a good UK-centric starting point.

If it's just for a small bedroom TV then I wouldn't really bother with the additional expense or complication; you'd be fine with a magic eye.
  • If you want to got to great lengths to view Hd on a second Tv through a magic eye then yes it may be possible to do if you wish to spend money, also their maybe an encryption on the Hd box that you would need to get round which would be illegal. Seems alot of bother for a Hd picture!

so if u get sky hd - do you get to keep ur old sky+ box?
I have been thinkin of upgrading for a while but didnt think it was worth it.
Am on the full package at the mo and pay about £48 per month so if got HD for the offer some people are getting would this mean it would be £53 per month with 2 boxes?

Hi, yes you can keep ur sky+ box as it belongs to you.

Your full package is £47 at the mo, and you would add £10 for HD subscription, and £10 for multiroom (which would be for ur sky+ box i'm assuming). Total monthly amount/cost would be £67 if u had no offers. It would depend on what offer you may get, as that is up to the advisor you speak to i.e what mood they're in as it's soley up to them what offers they give out.

Does everyone get to keep their sky+ box, as the last one i had they took away when they installed the new one. i'm having hd fitted next wk, already have multiroom, and would like to keep the sky+ box to put upstairs. when i got the deal for hd they said my box was out of warrenty so techincally i suppose it is mine as they said your warrenty carries on from the original installation which was 2yrs ago. what do you think
  • My current SKY deal finishes in a months time.

    My current deal is:
Sky+ HD with SKY world all channels
    Sky broadband max
Sky talk anytime + sky pay my BT line rental
All for £65.00 a month which was tough getting this deal 11 months ago.

Is there anyone getting this sort deal at the moment? because looking at the replies above i thing i will have a tough time renewing anywhere near the £65.00 i am currently paying.
