Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread MK3

  • Wondered if someone can help from past experience -

I need to send a couple of large items - the problem is the size and weight, which means most of the usual carriers can't be used.

    Largest is over 33kg - and 1.3m x 1.2m x 30cm. The second largest just under 30kg.

From the recomendations at the start of this thread the only people who will touch it for a sensible price (£40 for 70kg so I could combine the parcels and cut costs)are Parcel Marketer - this is a ebay arrangement, so i'm cautious - has anyone any experience of this outfit?

    TIA
I do hope you're telling the truth?

    Hi

Does anyone know why I cannot book a collection for tomorrow with DPD to go to Southern Ireland?

The UK and worldwide sections seem to be ok but the Europe one is not connecting and I need to have it collected tomorrow to have it delivered in time for Christmas.

    Thanks
They're probably just updating the page. I'd drop them an email, or try later tonight.

Have to admit I have no experience or read any on here. They are there on the back of price which is very good. Their ebay feedback is fine however. Also, I don't know what the maximum dimensions are, or which courier they use.

    What was interparcels quote?

Thanks but their email is not functioning either. Guess that I have to try in the morning.

Thanks but they are still down. If they do not get back to me by 9 who would be the next best for Southern Ireland please?

£75 via Titan - so Parcel Marketer would be 1/2 the price. I know there are certain companies to avoid (although I used parceltree a few times with no issues). Smartparcels seems best avoided - I don't trust any site that doesn't list a registered address.

  • If you don't mind calling companies that don't fulfill their end of a pre-paid deal at 10p/min, don't read any further.

I booked a parcel in with Interparcel yesterday afternoon at around 2pm and no shipping labels were ready. It seemed unusual, but the email confirmation did say to check back in a few hours and call if you still did not have them.

They do point out that without their pre-printed labels, you will be charged an additional £15 + VAT. I Sent an email marked URGENT to customer services, left a message on their voicemail and tried about four times to get through on the phone. DON'T EVEN BOTHER ENTERING A TRACKING NUMBER ON THEIR PHONE SYSTEM. It says it will email your labels to you but never does, so you have to call yet again.

As the courier turned up at the door this morning, I was still on hold. Fortunately the call was picked up at that very moment (15 minutes and around £1.50 just for this one call later) and hey presto, the labels are sent by email within seconds. Not bothered by the problem at all, not even an apology and it must have cost us several pounds for the eons we spent waiting to speak to someone.

SHAME ON YOU INTERPARCEL!! Why did noboby return our call or email? I paid for the service and then had to pay more to get my shipping labels.

If you can't deliver a proper service, I will take my custom elsewhere. There is plenty of choice available and such shappy service is inexcusable.
  • ^What courier service did you use?

I sent a parcel to Ireland with Direct Parcel Distribution as recommended by Armitage Shanks.

The waybill/receipt from DHL is invoiced to Interparcel Ltd.
