Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread MK3

I don't think it'll be a problem, they won't xray for glass or anything like that. The worst that would happen is your jars would break and splat marmalade over everything else in the box. :rotfl:
I've wrapped them so if they do break it'll go all over the bubblewrap & a plastic bag! They're buried deep amongst other stuff so hopefully they'll be protected - I just didn't want the parcel prevented from being sent once it gets to the depot! I think I'll chance it - all this for a jar of jam & marmalade!!:rolleyes:0 -
i always use http://www.interparcel.com to send my parcels. i think its really cheap, also u get a discount on every parcel u send if u register on the website. its worth looking at anyway0

How do you do anchors on here? Ie. there are going to be headings at the top, the plan is click on what you need and the page will scroll down to reliant bits."
This forum has limited HTML support so I don't think inserting name tags is possible. There is a work around but you would need to create a new message for each section. You can then link headings to each section without name tags.

What I thought to be honest. Perhaps something to look at on the next thread (when ever that occurs)
"parcelmachine and this vat issue. are they registered or not?"
Parcelmachine, Express packages, Direct Parcel Distribution are all Shipping-Manager clones. I think direct parcel might be using their own DHL account but Parcelmachine & Express packages are booking via Shipping-Manager. Parcelmachine are not VAT registered & only claim the VAT is added to make the price look more appealing. For the UK section you might as well promote shipping-manager instead so customers can get a better price & service. Or promote another company that is offering something different.
EPD have earned their place- top notch service, and also have never spammed. Parcelmachine, up in till the latest round of DHL increases were pretty good value I think. Also the fact they have some very good European rates (£15.30 to Germany etc.) which I presume is being run as a loss leader or at least close to the bone, and this earns them double exposure. How does shipping manager differ from p4d (is it just the intergration capabilities?). The other issue is they are barely any cheaper than the rest, and promoting the big boys doesn't really do anything for the consumer in the long run.
payperparcel's cut-off is? Also any reassurances on the pre paid front, hallmarks of ppw, parceltree etc. very risky as paypal provides no protection.
cut-off is 10am. Parcels booked using the 1-4 day service must be very low priority. The longer DHL have your parcel the more change of damage or loss so my advice is use the 1-2 day service instead.
Apparently the cut-off is 12.30pm. There is no such thing as 1-4 service, they are just following the p2go route which is probably a) to get more people to chose the epxediated service b) to get less people nagging when their parcels aren't delivered in 48hrs. 1-4 days is HECO, 1-2 day is HND.
As for pre paid credits I still use them & am not worried. Just be sensible & only prepay for what you need each day. At the moment I buy a few credits from parcelcheap each day & get next day DPD delivery for £9.30. I've also prepaid with shipping-manager & parceltogo in the past without any problems. I would be more worried if there is no option to pay by Paypal. I always get worried entering my credit card details directly. Paypal is always the best option! Also Interparcel should not be surcharging customers to use Paypal, it's not allowed.
Sorry to break the paypal bubble, but it's far from the best. You are buying service and thus forgo any tangible protection. The people who have lost money to ppw and shafi's carp with testify to that. Nothing wrong with interparcel surcharging paypal, if you see the fees it's understanble. The safest way of paying is by credit card.
My question is has anyone had a successful claim with Freightsearch & how long does it take? I put a claim in with Freightsearch for a lost parcel over a month ago. In the last few weeks they have ignored my emails. I did get a phone call from an Australian guy on Friday but he couldn't give me any answers. So is the insurance Freightsearch offer real or a con. I find it a bit strange they are the only DHL reseller offering £100 insurance. How long should a claim for loss with DHL take?
No different to everyone else. Claims are notorsiously difficult. What you gain in price you forgo in the abilty/ease to claim, that is the reality of using re-sellers. I get the impression it's quite an issue with them all- I read in the ppw liquidation report they were paying out claim from their own pocket, before they had anything from DHL! Also that in these rationalising times; fewer the claims cetainly wouldn't harm ones standing with DHL, or anyone else. Loss isn't an issue I don't think, only damage.0 -
I just used Direct Parcel Distribution to send 10kg to Portugal via FedEx for £19.99.
I checked the price using my own FedEx account number for the same service and they quoted £132!
Had a collection missed by DHL this week, but DPD rebooked next day, this time with FedEx and goods got to Ireland in 48 hours.can someone tell me how much it would cost to ship 1 parcel of up to 1kg to China pls?
I find these courier websites baffling.Hi
I remember reading somewhere on this thread all the DHL contac tel numbers. I have a parcel gone missing and need to contact them urgently. Does anyone know them or have a link to them?
ThanksARE THEY REALLY RELIABLE?The parcel is all packed (8kilos) and sealed up, but now I've noticed that they (& many others) won't accept glass without prior written notification! I missed that bit! It's mainly clothes in there, but I've put two jars of jam & marmalade, along with chocolates & biscuits. It's well packed and protected, but should I take the chance & send it, or unseal it all & take the jars out?!! They are due to pick up tomorrow, & I'm sure if I ask the delivery guy he won't want to hang around while I do it then! Will it be scanned & maybe not sent? I know for the sake of a couple of jars I should just take them out, but it took ages to seal the box properly and I don't really want to do it all again! Any help appreciated! Please can you recommend a courier for a parcel to Dublin.
It weighs 7 kilograms and the largest dimension is 73 centimetres.
Value about £100.
Preferably using DHL who know where I leave my parcels.westmidslad wrote: »i always use http://www.interparcel.com to send my parcels. i think its really cheap, also u get a discount on every parcel u send if u register on the website. its worth looking at anyway0 -
I've been all day trying to sort the best way to send a parcel of Christmas presents to family on Merseyside, and finally arranged through FreightSearch - they had problems today with their site once it got to the payment stage, so I ended up doing it by phone after many hours!

Well, my parcel has been collected by DHL, and as soon as the guy saw it he said I'd have to open it up, they are supposed to be left unsealed! Why couldn't that have been stressed to me when I arranged the collection by phone yesterday? He said I'd have to unwrap all the gifts, as they were going by plane and needed to be inspected beforehand. He ended up saying to open a few & after asking what was in the rest, said to leave them, but now the open box is on it's way to wherever they take it, the gifts have just been quickly put back in the box - nowhere near as neatly packed as I originally had it, & someone will be going through it all again before it's sealed! I hope everything arrives that should arrive - anybody could take something out of there! I don't think I'll be sending it that way again. OK, it was cheap compared to Royal Mail, but in the past a sealed box has been sent through them with none of this hassle. I know now it's because its going by plane, but I think I'll stick to snail mail in future!:rolleyes:0 -

So where were you sending it from and to? I just assumed you were sending it in the UK.0 -
From Glasgow to Liverpool! I thought it would go by road overnight.
Hmmm...very strange. Don't know what everyone else is thinking but i'm thinking it should go by road! They must have daily 40ft lorries coming to and from Glasgow....Keep an eye on the tracking number they gave you. Should be a number beginiing with JD00 and you can track at http://track.dhl.co.uk/tracking/0 -
Never, even with our international shipments have we had to open a parcel fro a driver. If we left them unsealed for inspection they would be less than impressed. They won't be inspected either, even if they are going by plane (which seems very unlikely to me), they may be x-rayed, and small chance of been security checked.0

Hi
Does anyone know why I cannot book a collection for tomorrow with DPD to go to Southern Ireland?
The UK and worldwide sections seem to be ok but the Europe one is not connecting and I need to have it collected tomorrow to have it delivered in time for Christmas.
Thanks0
