what happened to parceltree arm?
mademoiselle, yep unfortunately it looks like DPD are having problems, they are no longer offering Europe and International services. See what happens on the 30th and if no show, ask a refund. We are also waiting for refund from them. If it transpires you have to book else where, as Mark_B says it looks like freightsearch are the way to go.0 -
With Direct Parcel Dist no longer offering worldwide services, the list is looking a bit bare in that department. So if anyone knows of someone offering competitive Europe and/or International rates please post who. If needs be it can come direct from the horses mouth (one post only though
).

Direct Parcel Distribution will be closing on the 1st of January as there will be a change of ownership. The understanding is that will continue to operate (????). I have been assured any outstanding credits owed will be settled.0

well I'm trying to phone Direct Parcel Distribution, to see if anyone at all is going to turn up to take my package today. The phone number is not working - you dial it and a message says 'the other person has hung up' The website home page is stating that they have 'closed for a website refit'.
All the while, they have forty quid of my money and my parcel is still in the front hall, whilst I waste another day waiting home for a collection that almost certainly isn't going to happen!
I am FUMING.
Has anyone got any suggestions how I sort this mess out.0 -
I am slightly disappointed to see Direct Parcel Distribution go under, but that's only because I'm in a process of preparing to sort damage claim with them in small claims court (vide the infamous "sender must sign for parcel as damaged on receiving end" berserk Terms&Conditions issue described earlier in this thread). I suppose what goes around comes around...0

Unfortunately your credit card company won't oblige - unless the cost was over £1000 -

How do you know this, AS? It doesn't say that on the website - do you know the company? If they can tell you that they will settle 'outstanding credits' (oh, nice euphemism for leaving people in the lurch!), why can't they tell their customers??
They are actually having the cheek to re-direct people to another internet site:
"whilst we are closed please order via our friends at...."
AS IF! Whilst they have left people like me out of pocket and with uncollected parcels, no explanation, no answering of phone or e-mail!
I hope anyone else who is wanting to send a package, and who has been attracted by their cheap rates, is taking note!0 -
They emailed us last night and refunded us the £30 they owed us. Like you I would be very surprised if your booking is collected. However, they did say refunds would be refunds/collections will be sorted. Ultimately it's up to them how they go, but no doubt they are reading this so I implore you to go decently by winding down and settling up. A few refunds and credibility or hard ball a crook status?
If your paypal payment was credit card funded you should be able to initiate a chargeback if needs be. Little consolation I know but if relevant credits are not settled they'll be on the avoid list for good.
DPD have been a bit of an anomaly, more ups and downs, new services, withdrawn services, price cuts and price hikes, tales of good communication and woeful coms. For us having slated them for months (mainly for spamming here) we ended up sending an awful lot of internaitonal shipments through them via FedEx for prices I didn't think were possible. It saved us hundres of pounds and opened up new markets for us. We are in the lurch now with listings on ebay.com and .com.au etc. and have no viable delivery service, but I suppose that's the nature of taking courier cost cutting to the bone.0 -

What about the old International Mail guy? He did some pretty good prices... looks like the site's still there too: http://www.wringtononlineworld.com/InterPostRates.htm But no longer on the list. You know something we don't arm?0
