Need to send a lcd monitor are dpd ok for this?

I know they brought in an exclusion for plasmas and lcds were good for cover up to 32", over that and they wouldn't accept them (or accept them, damage them and then tell you it shouldn't have been sent!).

I'm talking about DPD as in the big uk company "Geopost UK" owned by La poste. Not the other company called "Direct Parcel Distribution". In fact i'd never heard of these guys before today, i use a company called ParcelBroker at the moment (web address same as company www.parcelbroker.co.uk).

I'm surprised that the DPD i used to work for hasn't kicked off legal proceedings yet as their company name DPD is actually also short for Direct Parcel Distribution! lol

Anyway, hope this helps Mr Kennedy!

Can i ask why www.parcel2go.com isnt mentioed in the first post, i thought they are quite big players and have been around for quite a while.

You get £5 Quidco too so ideal to use at least once

Yes they are big players, and perhaps too big. Allegedly they may of been the instigators behind DHLs price hike for 'some' resellers, which lead to big price increases for customers and some going out of business, such as PPW.

Barring quidco, their prices are rediculous and the booking system is overly long. Apparently they have 2500 bookings a day, and that's a lot of people throwing money away which is what this thread tries to prevent. However they do have occasional half price offers, these are always posted on here.

Furthermore, via a member called 'Welcome', they predigiously and quite affectively spammed this thread (see the first 10'ish pages). Guaranteeing themselves short shrift in this thread for the foreseeable future.
• Hello Pica, if you click here and about half way down the page there are screen grabs of the Sale Track booking interface, where you create and print labels your self etc. It is all very simple and easy to use. They will set you up with a DHL sub account which takes 5 days to come online.

As for rates, it varies on how much you send a month, the pricing bands are in multiples of 50- the starting rate is about £5.80+vat and goes down to around £4+vat for 600/month. They do say that will beat your existing rate, but from what I've seen they are the cheapest anyway. Best thing to do is give them a ring and ask for 'Thor' and he'll explain everything.

Hi Armitage, this sounds great! I'm paying £6.64 with my current supplier and doing quite a few per week now so should be able to sort this out and get a good rate!

System looks nice too and i'm very happy with the DHL 48 @ home service, i mean what is the difference between the 48@home and DHLs standard service? The same driver picks them up the same driver delivers them, do they have a different sortation process or are we just getting the same service under a different name?

Will speak to "Thor"?!! tomorrow!

Basically in urban areas @home will probably go out with different drivers, often people with cars who only get paid tuppence a parcel. @home can also be delivered up in till 9, and if there's been a failed delivery during the week they now seem to be sending them out on saturday's. From where we are though it's the same driver for @home and standard (b2b). Price difference is only about 80p between 24 and 48hr, on b2b there's only a 24hr, but the same price as @home 48hr.

Hey Ludwip, I used to work for DPD for about 4 years and after that had an account with them spending about the same as you.

I used to book EVERYTHING by road into Europe and they always messed a few up and sent them via air.

I never had any problems getting credits because I booked them online and my history shows the road service was selected. You won't have a problem if this is the case. It's like you ordering a pint of lager for £3 and getting a bottle of champagne sent over for £60...you still get to drink the champagne as the parcels are probably delivered by now but you only pay for the lager! :rotfl:
Did you book online or use consignment notes? If you used notes and ticked the wrong service (i.e air) you'll be lucky to get anything back!

Thanks a lot for your help, sorry for the delay but I was away for a while. I book them online. However thinking to use cms collections and book them directly through database. What you think about it?

Hi Ludwip

Forgive my not understanding but I haven't worked for DPD for nearly 18 months and am new to these forums so not familiar with all the acronyms (is that how to spell it?), what does cms collections do or what is it?

Perhaps the more experienced Armitage could help on this one?

You can simply connect your database with their and transfer data in bulk once a day through ftp. That's all I can understand from what the IT man from DPD explained to me. So forgive me my mistakes please.

Hi Ludwip

Yes I know of the ftp system. We're slightly off subject and i'm losing the thread now. Your original question was about the fact DPD is trying to invoice you for air shipments when you selected the road service using the online system.

I think this question has now been answered, you'll be fine as long as you originally booked the order as the road service.

Going to back to your last post above, "However thinking to use cms collections and book them directly through database. What you think about it?"

In my opinion full integration using ftp transmission is the quickest way to send your bookings. The ftp file you send will need to contain the code for the particular service you require. So again, if your ftp file contains the code to send something by road and DPD send it by air and try to charge you the difference, you won't have to pay.

I hope this helps?
