Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread MK3

Had a parcel picked up with them on Monday (as everyone thought, it was DHL). Got a tracking number from the driver as the confirmation e-mail had said and it was delivered on Tuesday! I was a bit suprised with it being a 48 hour service but still that's cool with me.

I've just booked one for a Wednesday collection and then had my customer not pay so I e-mailed them telling them that the booking wasn't required and I got a reply within minutes. They must be sat there waiting???

I have just booked another one with them for a Thursday collection so I'll see how that one goes, but so far so good. I'm really happy especially with the fast response I got.

At the moment I'd say definitely give them a try if you're not sure who to use.
  • As I posted a few pages back; yes I have- some who was posting on here who I was sure was them turned out not to be, they're not parceltree and the fact after 9 months or so they are still here, and that all say something. The big thing is these European and International rates which are excellent, and I'm sad enough for these to genuine excite me!

Freightsearch seem very good, currently using them for our away collections and Sale Track for our main dispatches.

would have to agree that really its down to driver if he takes oversized.. as a general rule dhl do take over whereas pf dont as they weigh on van too
also pf charge £25 for excess so sometimes its cheaper to take the hit rather than pay way over..

i have had some drivers take 100x100x20cms 20kgs no problem
but just today as parcel 100x20x20 30kgs.. did not take? strange.. just depends on driver;) be nice to them:D

bit dissapointed as looked at rates for GERMANY.. with parcelmachine will be £34.41 as size 100x20x20 weight 30kgs.. anyone do cheaper?

dpd no good as to them the address is remote for collection although on all other dhl its fine:mad: plus their sizes are still crazy!

oops meant to add.. if you do send oversized/weight then you are not insured.. they wont pay out if its damaged. so can be risky
  • I was told the site should be back on line tonight and that everything will be the same.

Though I expect it will be minus any resemblances of good service. Be shocked if they still have 2/3 girls in the office, if the bookings stay automated and if they're cut-off remains 12.30

We've still got £200 worth of PPPs so I suppose we'll have to use them up.

Armitage. I'm new in this forum. Got couple of hundreds £ stuck with PPW. Could you please advice what is the latest on ppw? Has anybody been in contact with them lately? Any advice on how get my £ back as paypal refuses to help. Are you aware of any coordinated effort to claim £ back from PPW? Could you clarify if parcel tree is owned by the same people. Many thanks

  • I want to send a parcel to my daughter who is living in Oslo Norway which will be Christmas presents and wondered if anyone else has sent to there. It will be quite heavy, about 15kg.

Will I have to list every item and will she have to pay duty at her end?

As I have not done this before any help would be great.

Sorry if this is not the correct place to list this.

  • :TI have had a clear out and sold some things on E Bay including a tow bar (very heavy and awkward shape). Most items like this are collect only but this limits the buyers. I did some research and came across www.personalshipper.com that offers a home collection service (no trudging to a post office) and overnight delivery for parcels etc at a price that beats many usual rates on most weights including heavy items. The parcels are insured too When I missed the page to give pick up date (you can book a week ahead) I emailed them with a forward date. I had a very efficient reply (thank you Jane) and even a helpful and cheery follow up call to make sure collection was on time. It was and a helpful collection driver too. All of this was a great surprise so I have to recommend them

So for an efficient overnight courier service, give them a try
  • Try Interparcel, they have a TITAN service (TNT) which should take those dimensions. Otherwise try a local courier from the yellow pages, and also worth googling 'shiply' or 'ukbuckloads'.

Thanks Armitage - very much appreciated.

anyway, used Direct Parcel Distribution again monday evening for the £6.95 24-48hr, picked up Tuesday at the same time (just before 5pm) by the same DHL guy whoever I use, and delivered Wednesday 10am. Just don't everyone use them otherwise DHL'll notice and they'll be gone too :p

Do any of these resellers collect on a saturday?

No. But I presume if you use parcelforce you can drop them off at the PO on a Saturday. Though can you not arrange collection from work, or a neighbour?

[FONT=&quot]Ali Eftekhar Khonsari - PPW Operations Director - 07811 250729 - Is the only contact I'm aware of.

The situation as far as I'm aware is that they haven't gone bust, but that DHL affectively stopped them trading by putting their prices up £3 a parcel. So they are trying to renegotiate, if that fails which I suspect it may do they will merge completely with parceltree who seem to have more clout. We too are owed money, and at the start of the week I was pretty confident we would be seeing credits by the weeks out, now less so. But the fact that they are still opperating would suggest some promise. No coordinated effort as yet, BUT if refunds aren't settled I will canvas for an action plan here and on PS forum. This forum is a powerful weapon so I'm quietly confident. When I know more I will update.

Yep, this sort of thing doesn't work- it just creates a backlash. Though worryingly parcelsheep had a fairly successful spamming campaign on here recently.

Good news. We've got something going to America tomorrow so I shall be testing them out also!
