Cheap Parcel Delivery Thread MK3

  • ever so slightly off topic, i am struggling to find a decent (but cheap!) supplier of boxes still.

is there a particular thread i should read ?

recently took advantage of the buy one get one free boxes on parcel2go (wouldn't use them otherwise !) and to be honest £20 for 20 60cm x 40 x 34 is not much less than what i would like to spend usually, not on a bogof !

i need boxes this size, and some about half the size. not loads, just 50 of each at a time. but want the price to average about £1 a box.

I just wanted to say that after finding this thread I decided to use "Payperparcel" to delivery an item I sold on ebay.
I booked it to be collected Thursday (23rd). It was collected around midday - and have just seen on the tracking part of the website that it has already been delivered today (Fri 24th) at 12.46! It even says the name of the person who signed for it.
So pleased, and for just over £7 for the economy service they offer - which turned out to be next day delivery, I am so pleased.
    Would definately reccommend to everyone!

  • So we used Direct Parcel Distribution and their FedEx to America service today. Faultless service from them and FedEx.

Still can't get over the price, £25 to send 8.5kg to California (something like 5000 miles), no getting round it, it's absolutely superb!!

...and we'll probably be using it every day as we have listed on ebay.com now!

In other news, PPW are in administration.

Armitage. Thanks for update on PPW. What "administration" status exactly means? Who is the first line to get money back if there is any DHL or us?
  • It's all in the hands of the administrators, apparently their debts will be settled by early November. I know very little about the whole process and what it all entails. As for a contact see my previous post on the last page (most of what wrote there is now completely irrelivant now).

Armitage. I'm sure you are the most experienced person here so hopefully you can help me. As I wrote some time ago I have an account with DPD.co.uk . Everything was running smoothly until yesterday. I received itemised invoice and found out that there is several parcels send with their air service instead of the international road. My weekly invoice supposed to be around £900 plus VAT and just received an invoice with the total of £3600 plus VAT for their Air Service. I checked my account and order one by one and there is no even one single order for Air Service.
What would you advice me to do in this case? Should I be worried that they will still charge me £3600 plus VAT or would you think that they will sort this out?
Hope to hear from you soon
  • If you booked them as road you should only pay for what you booked, if they miss-routed you're parcels it's their fault. You're spending a lot with them so I don't really think they should be in a position to agrue. But I don't know how the DPD booking system works and also have little personal experience of this as we only have sub-acounts with DHL through saletrack and city link via freightsearch, and as yet haven't had a problem like yours. Sorry I can't offer more specific advice, ultimately if you speak to the right person I'm sure it will be sorted.

Just on DPD we used them for the first time for a parcel to Slovakia, was impressed. Just as a thought if you want to stop using your direct account to give you some leverage over them, you can book DPD through parcelmachine - Germany £15 etc.

I got a few things finishing on ebay this weekend and I will have to courier some of it and I prefer DHL.

Is Direct Parcel Distribution my cheapest safe bet or is there any better alternatives out there?

    Thanks in advance.
