Has anyone used DPD to London? I have a birthday parcel to send there soon and fancied giving them a try as I want to sand a parcel to Norway later on in the year with them and wanted to have a trial run sort to speak.0

Is Direct Parcel Distribution my cheapest safe bet or is there any better alternatives out there?Has anyone used DPD to London?0

You're spending a lot with them so I don't really think they should be in a position to agrue. But I don't know how the DPD booking system works and also have little personal experience of this as we only have sub-acounts with DHL through saletrack and city link via freightsearch, and as yet haven't had a problem like yours. Sorry I can't offer more specific advice, ultimately if you speak to the right person I'm sure it will be sorted.
Just on DPD we used them for the first time for a parcel to Slovakia, was impressed. Just as a thought if you want to stop using your direct account to give you some leverage over them, you can book DPD through parcelmachine - Germany £15 etc.
Thanks Armitage, I will have to wait until Monday and speak to someone about it. Would you think that they can overcharge me even if I have a proof that it wasn't Air but Road Service? I mean it's quite a lot of money and I'm also worried not to lose an account with them as they offer very good rates now. Much better than at the beginning.
Thanks again for your advice Armitage0 -
Can i ask why https://www.parcel2go.com isnt mentioed in the first post, i thought they are quite big players and have been around for quite a while.
You get £5 Quidco too so ideal to use at least once0 -
Need to send a lcd monitor are dpd ok for this?0

Direct Parcel Distribution don't deliver, they are merely booking agents. Your parcel would be delivered and collected by DHL who deliver millions of parcels to London a year. Your parcel to Norway will be sent via FedEx and from my early experience they are in a class of their own.[/quote]
Nothing to do with Ebay, but has anyone seen the FedEx 'van' in Venice. Couldn't believe it when we saw the FedEx deliveringLook after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -
Armitage. I'm sure you are the most experienced person here so hopefully you can help me. As I wrote some time ago I have an account with DPD.co.uk . Everything was running smoothly until yesterday. I received itemised invoice and found out that there is several parcels send with their air service instead of the international road. My weekly invoice supposed to be around £900 plus VAT and just received an invoice with the total of £3600 plus VAT for their Air Service. I checked my account and order one by one and there is no even one single order for Air Service.
What would you advice me to do in this case? Should I be worried that they will still charge me £3600 plus VAT or would you think that they will sort this out?
Hope to hear from you soon
Hey Ludwip, I used to work for DPD for about 4 years and after that had an account with them spending about the same as you.
I used to book EVERYTHING by road into Europe and they always messed a few up and sent them via air.
I never had any problems getting credits because I booked them online and my history shows the road service was selected. You won't have a problem if this is the case. It's like you ordering a pint of lager for £3 and getting a bottle of champagne sent over for £60...you still get to drink the champagne as the parcels are probably delivered by now but you only pay for the lager! :rotfl:
Did you book online or use consignment notes? If you used notes and ticked the wrong service (i.e air) you'll be lucky to get anything back!0 -
Hi Armitage
What kind of rates do Saletrack offer for the DHL service? I'm confused by their website, it doesn't look like a dedicated reseller site, do they give you a system to produce labels etc?
I guess what i really want to know is can i negotiate a rate with them or is it a fixed price? That way you can give me a target price to aim for!:D0 -
Hello Pica, if you click here and about half way down the page there are screen grabs of the Sale Track booking interface, where you create and print labels your self etc. It is all very simple and easy to use. They will set you up with a DHL sub account which takes 5 days to come online.
As for rates, it varies on how much you send a month, the pricing bands are in multiples of 50- the starting rate is about £5.80+vat and goes down to around £4+vat for 600/month. They do say that will beat your existing rate, but from what I've seen they are the cheapest anyway. Best thing to do is give them a ring and ask for 'Thor' and he'll explain everything.0 -

Edit: Just remembered we have dell laptops delivered via the courier DPD so it must be fine, unless you mean the booking agents Direct Parcel Distribution who use DHL then I'm not sure.0
