Goodluck to everyone using the plan it does work :j
Thanks -good to hear it works. Starting week 5 today and I can start to see how I will get there - all be it at a slow shuffle.
Dizziblond - I started off inside too messing about on my exercise bike till I was confident I could run for 60 seconds without collapsing. A friend who is a personal fitness coach told me that for weight loss you are better doing slow and consistant rather than hard and fast so I am happy with my shuffling. I don't seem to be losing lots of weight on the scales but I am changing shape which is actually more important.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Well done everyone, keep up the great work!
I started again on week 3 yesterday, felt like the slowest jogger in the world but made it through the 3 min intervals so was very proud of myself .. it's the longest I've been able to do so far and i wouldn't have believed I could at the start of the year!
Now just have to keep up the motivation and go again tomorrow morning

Well. I am starting again tonight.
I bought another new pair of trainers yesterday (the first ones I got really didn't fit properly and killed my toes) so I had to wait until I could afford another pair. Mmmm... Should have bought the decent ones in the first place; false economy that was.
Anyway. Week 1 Day 1 later this evening!
Keep going Dizzy. We can do it!
Still cannot believe that I have let myself get in this fat/unfit state.0 -
I'd like to join in, if I can. I did my first run last night before I found this thread, my son came with me as my personal trainer lol!
I've done a bit on the Wii fit today too and really fancy getting out there and having another run tonight. I was very stop and start last night, I'd run a bit have a rest then go again, so I think this plan could help me build up?Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
Skylight good luck for tonight
Shimmershelly - it has made a real difference to me having a structured plan.
I am pleased to announce that today for the first time in 20 years (since I stopped doing PE at school) I ran for 20 minutes without a rest! Wouldn't have thought it possible five weeks ago. Well I say ran but realy I mean fast shuffled. Still an achievement though. Will work on speed later.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Thanks!
I did go out. But only managed the warm up and 2 sets of runs, so I walked home. I will keep going. If it takes me a few weeks to do the week 1 comfortably then so be it.
I think that perhaps I was trying to run rather than jog or shuffle so will slow the pace down a bit. I also think that I was trying to go to fast as I didn't want people to see me and wanted to get away quickly. Need to get over myself on that one I think.
Anyway. Of into town to see what I have lost this week (I hope!)0 -
I went tonight (didn't go to the gym yesterday and actually missed it!) and had the treadmill going for 13 mins (up from 11) and a whole 1k and I shuffled for 60 seconds once, and 30 seconds the second time. I think I just have an incredibly strange gait or something though since whenever I walk anywhere I get a screaming pain in the front of my shins down into my ankles and always have done.
I'm feeling better - even more so when I weighed myself on the Wii Fit today (I refuse to buy normal scales as they make me miserable, but the graphs on the Wii help out) and the first time I did it I was 19st bang on, and the second time (I weigh a couple of times as I've noticed it's flaky in what I comes out with - and of course I pick the lowest number) I came in as 18st 12 - I've not been below the 19 barrier in YEARS!
Feeling happier and less isolated as well - I'm very much a work - go home - computer person, and because of what I do (supply teaching) I don't even really have colleagues at work so feel quite lonely sometimes - maybe it's helping kick my depression (but that normally lifts a touch when the sun comes out).Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

You must be so pleased with yourself :T
Well done - I find this it helps my mood too as firstly I'm so pleased to have got to the end
and secondly must be something to do with endorphins.
Now I have a dilemma. I've done week 4 three times now so should move onto week 5. I can just about cope with week 4 though its pushing it a bit at the end of the second five minutes. Week 5 goes from toddling along to something much more serious  though it is slightly less running. Do I go for a harder but slightly shorter programme or wuss out and repeat week 4?The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Try week 5! You can always repeat run 1 if it's too hard, but really it isn't too much different to week 4. Run 2 is more icky, but again you could always repeat it. Then run 3 is dead easy, and after you've done it you'll wonder what all the fuss is about!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Way to go Dizziblonde - the shin thing does get better - I had this on one leg only for the first few weeks. It also makes my varicose veins hurt!
Jessicamb I was worried about the transition from week 4 to 5, but got to the end of the first 5 mins and felt ok so I kept going, and ended up doing the full 20 mins. Try run 1 of week 5, it really isn't that bad.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0
