DD1 and I completed the 5k RFL yesterday, in 41 minutes. I have been training and was pretty confident about maintaining a pace and getting all the way round, but DD was unable to do so, as she has one no training, so we walked half of it. I'm very proud of her, though she is vehement that she isn't doing it again.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Week 5 day 2 done
Messed up a bit though and thought there was another 5 minute run in there after the two 8 minutes so had a loooooooong walk home :rotfl:
Does anybody know an easy way to tell how fast you are running? I still think I might be shuffling a bit too much so even though I get to the end and can do 30 mins (I hope!) running I dont think it will be 5kThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
I use google pedometer to map my route and see how far I've done. It only really works if you have any landmarks, though! Near me there's a very long road with no side roads or anything, so if I run that way I have no idea where I turned round to come home.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

I did the rest of week one and started week two over the weekend which went ok. However I went for a run this morning and did the first two 90 second runs but my shins were killing me, I had to drop back down to the 60 second runs to finish.
It really hurts at the front of my shins down by my ankles. So I might just stick to the week one runs for a while until they feel better, it's bearable for the 60 second runs.Well I can't stand by the side

I'm seriously annoyed with myself. Took a break yesterday to recover from whatever I'd yanked... went back tonight after the day from hell (beloved County Council whom I hate anyway over a job issue had decided to do a traffic census on a nightmare traffic junction so got into work running late and never really caught up and the photocopier had PMS) so wanted to see SOME progress, anything to not feel useless - 5 min walk to warm up... 60 seconds run (had to crank the speed up a notch as they really seem to vary on the gym's different treadmills), fine, even knocked down to 90 second recovery... another 60 seconds... semi-fine... needed about 2 1/2 mins recovery... third 60 seconds... painful... back to a walking pace for the remainder of 15 mins....and whatever I pulled the other day went again - so yep, 15 mins gym total, one painful egg and the icecubes out again and me feeling fat, useless, a failure and doomed to always being like this, never being able to concieve and have kids.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I'm trying to get fit after 25 years of smoking and at the moment I can't imagine running for 3 minutes, let alone 20, without my chest hurting. I'm sure it will come though, that's why I thought I would try this program because it's a gradual build up (I think I will take lots longer than 9 weeks though lol!)Well I can't stand by the side

Talking of seeing results... I've managed to put on half a stone since I started according to the wii fit. I give up - what's the flaming point?Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

Muscle weighs more than fat apparently - maybe you have to go up to go down
We will see results soon - I dont know about you but I've been working on these love handles for years  so they wont disappear overnight however much I wish them too. Just keep on pinching and poking squashy bits and wait for something to be less squishy - I wobble my calves, which are definitely less wobbly and squish the spare tyre.
Oh and dont reward yourself for your longest run yet with a chocolate bar :oThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

The gradual build up really does help - even if it takes longer. As you go through it recovery times get shorter too I've noticed. Now my legs start to go before my breathing does.
Well dont on the not smoking too - how did you give up? I read the Allen Carr book a few years ago and listened to a hypnosis CD a couple of times and havent wanted to smoke since (lucky I know). The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
