I dragged myself out - seem to have slipped right back - struggled to do 3 x 1 minute runs, and then my knee started going again. I don't know what I'm doing, but that whole leg does not feel right - it feels like it turns out when I push off from that food to be honest, and I've got very wobbly balance anyway as I walk on the edges of my feet and always always twist my ankles (if there's an uneven paving stone out there - I can hurt my ankle on it consistently). I'm thinking it's this stupid way I walk, combined with the 19stone in weight I'm lugging about that's causing it - but my knee's in a fair whack of pain when I stop running on it most days - hurts just above the joint if you get what I mean.
Angry at myself I couldn't keep up the 4 sets of 1 minute runs - I'm the kind of person who NEEDS to see progress or I get frustrated easily, but I've come home and I'm feeling pretty ropey anyway, my ear is hurting (gotta love having an ear infection for over a year now and the docs being naff all help) so I think I'm fighting some bug or other off - probably swine flu since I've been teaching a kid whose family's just come back from Mexico and it would just be my luck!
You should really see a doctor or some other healthcare practitioner. They'll probably tell you to rest it for a while.

I have just found this thread and it's great to find people in the same boat as myself who want to get fitter and also lose a bit of weight.
I started going to the gym about 6 weeks ago after being a bit of a couch potato other than the odd session which ever really amounted to much of a routine. Anyway in the last six weeks I've gone from doing pretty much nothing to regular sessions of 1 hour in the gym including running 30 mins on the treadmill non stop.:T
Tomorrow I'm off to do the Race for Life in Inverness and determined to jog the 5km with no stopping, something I thought impossible 6 weeks ago. I have only lost a few pounds in weight but have not put any on and haven't really been cutting back drastically. The main bonus I have found is that after about 4 weeks of going 3 times a week it doesn't actually seem like a chore anymore and I guess having something to aim for has definately spurred me on.
If no one minds I'd like to track my progress over the next 4 weeks or so to make sure I don't give up all the good work, especially as I've a reunion in 4 weeks and would love to lose a bit more weight and tone up. So during that time I would love to say I did at least 12 training sessions and lost 8 lbs - anyone want to join me?0 -
Count me in and good luck with the Race For Life.
That's my goal for next year to be able to run it (I walked it last year).Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
I did it!!!!:T:T:T:T:T
Finished the Race for Life today in 30 mins 40 secs, a pretty reasonable time if I say so myself and I managed to jog all the way as I had hoped. Ok I'll admit I wasn't so good on the food side of things as we all treated ourselves to a BK afterwards, but we can't all be perfect right?!
I'm actually toying with the idea of signing myself up for a 10km in October (this really doesn't sound like me), as there is one going in Loch Ness which is only an hour from me. I think having something to aim for will make me more likely to stick to a routine, rather than giving up in a couple of weeks time.
Tomorrow I'm gonna give the gym a miss and just take my dogs for a long walk and definately no junk food. I'm on such a high at the moment and all those hours down the gym have been worth it.
Hope everyone else is enjoying their Sunday.0 -

Well, you've already done 20 mins, so an extra 5 is nothing! I bet you felt the same way over the 20 mins run, and you got through that ok.
And if you get tired you've still got to walk home anyway, but running is quicker so you might as well do that instead!
Oh, and remember you'll burn about 300 calories, so you can treat yourself to some cakeMurphy's No More Pies Club #209
