If I could rig up some kind of fishing line with a cake dangling from it and hang it just out of reach on the treadmill - I'd go for miles and miles I'm sure.
Gym again today - not running - just 10 mins brisk walking on a gradient and 10 mins rowing machine - trying to push myself slightly through the knee niggles as I'm becoming convinced at least some of it is psychological exercise avoidance excuse and my body ain't getting away with pulling that stunt just yet. Discovered if I get my oh on the rowing machine next to me and shout at him to row faster I get a nice cool draft from his machine whirring round :D

Thats the sound I make after a couch to 5k run :D generally the hobbling like an old lady after a hip op ceases overnight though

I need Juno to come along and convince me that week 6 day3 (25 mins running ) isnt as bad as it sounds :o

Off to soak my knackered old bones in the shower.

Oh and poking squishy bits update -
    backfat - down :D
calves of steel - even steelier
    thighs of steel- :rotfl: :o
[STRIKE]six[/STRIKE]party pack - same as before

Way to go you! 25 mins isn't that bad if you did the 20 on week 5. My mistake was to get to 23 minutes and start going up hill. Shuffle would be a polite description....

I guess if it is real pain then your body is telling you to slow down - but with me I was aching every step of every day for about 4 weeks after I started and then all of a sudden my recovery time came down significantly. I think a lot of it is just your body getting used to exercise and the shock finding muscles that havent been used since PE in school many years ago.

Good on you for keeping going :T

The bit that's making me think it's psychological is that it starts as I round the corner toward the leisure centre after being perfectly OK all day - sorry body, not getting away with that stunt.

Went for a short run today! I haven't been properly for ages, so I'm just doing 2 miles three times a week to build back up, and then next week I'm starting again properly. I've had too much to fit in for a while, but I've realised things aren't going to get any better and I personally feel worse without running.

Feeling quite cross with myself today - went after work (had a day totally off from gym yesterday and haven't been on the treadmill in a couple), and I STILL can't get past the third run on week 1... although rationally I know I'm not needing the huge recovery times I did originally - I still feel I'm making no progress at all and can feel myself beginning to get frustrated with this run #3 wall I can't push through - I just have nothing left in my legs by then.

Whole thing was somewhat livened up by the woman who I'm positive was just wearing a bra in the gym... definitely wasn't a crop top and looked more underweary than sportsweary - and it wasn't one of the usual "hey my body's awesome look at it" crew you get.

I'm going running tonight after a couple of days off, I'm hoping that by going in the evening instead of the morning my calves won't hurt so much because they will be well and truly warmed up. I haven't been lazy in the days off I've had from running, I've done two 8 mile walks and started cycling yesterday. I'm hoping that improving my fitness other ways too will make the running easier, plus I'm in training for a charity walk next month.

Hi everyone, I have just done week five day two and am really worried about day three! I am really pleased with myself as I have managed to do all the other days and weeks without passing out/ keeling over/ falling off the treadmill but 8 minutes to 20 minutes seems like a massive jump!!! How has everyone else found it?

It seems really hard but its not too bad - just go slowly and you will be fine :) I was worried about it too but you can manager it.
