well guys you will be pleased to know that i have finally left week 1 behind me
first run of week 2 - done
by god the 5th run was hard but i got throught it, hey who am i to complain, i spent the last ermm twentyish years abusing my body, so i have to take the flak

    how is everyone else doing...........DREA

p.s im using a cheapy mp3 player from aldi
If we can put a man on the moon...how come we cant put them all there?

  • Well since I broke by iPod :( I've been running to Radio 4 on my phone  . I know it plays music so I'll have to work out how to squeeze mp3s down it's tiny pipes.

It was so COLD this morning I could hardly get moving. I think the sheep in the fields were ambling faster than I was running. I was seriously just plodding, but working on stamina and not speed for the time being (is my excuse). And dodging the icy puddles didn't help. And no warm up :shhh::naughty::o

So the embarrassing snail pace statistics are

Run. 35mins no stopping (and frankly at that pace hardly any 'going')
Dist. 5k (not including the bit where I had to run back and pick up my phone when it fell out of my pocket)
Cal. 400 (benefit of which just wiped out by a bacon sammich :o:D)

I really don't like the cold. I went out on Saturday and had to stop after a mile because the air temp was too cold for me and made my lungs hurt. I'm officially a big wuss! :)

    O. M. G. I think I've just worked out that I was running at just over 5 miles per hour. Move over Mr Tortoise, Mrs Watcher is on her way! Oh the shame :rotfl::rotfl:

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

Well I completed run 3 of week 1 this morning and I can't belive in such a short space of time the difference it has made.

Whilst I didn't think it was easy, I didn't find it hard and certainly not the chest bursting feeling I had last week.

........I would never had believed it!! Having said that it is still snails pace - but you got to start somewhere.

I use google pedometer to map my run when I come back. It's quite easy to use as long as you're running along roads - it doesn't really have an off road function. You can also use it to work out your calories, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.

Ha! Get you with all your healthy eating :p;) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I bought a Polar F11 Heart Rate Monitor last month.

p4140977p275w.jpg Sorry - that's a bit HUGE :o (and also girly pink to stop the boys in my house 'borrowing' it, never to be seen again).

Distance I can tell using Google Earth's path measuring tool as I tend to run off the beaten tracks - not much road running. Then it's a case of putting the distance run and time taken into this miles per hour calculator tool and then cringing with embarrassment :o:p.

The monitor calculates the calories used based on my weight, my resting heart rate and beats per minutes with time elapsed (I think ). It's either that or it's all done by magic. :D

i got a heart rate monitor, but even with the very poor instructions i still dont know how it works lol.

thanks guys, i used google maps and it worked ourt that i covered 2.72 km in my first run of week 2, obviously i was brisk walking part of the way, but this time last year, whilst i was still smoking and drinking heavily and having about 10 coffees a day, yes a day, this would have been unthinkable, my word last year i couldnt even run for last orders lol

I have a very sore throat you know and beginning to get the sniffles. Can I use that as my new excuse? :rotfl:
