I had an injection in my bottock and it hurt for a couple days, it still does a bit actually so I might have to run very slow tonight. That's if my landlord isn't visiting, need to phone him. Too many things getting in the way!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

So I did my run, wasn't so bad, but I'm definetly nowhere near moving on yet. I wore my pedometer and done 4503 steps, which aparantly is 2.12 miles. Seemed like more to me but I guess the pedometer doesn't know how fast I'm going?Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

I mapped it out and its roughly 2 miles I ran, about half a mile or so was walking. Ive got up today though and am in complete agony with shin splints. So much so I am on the verge of crying. Walking to the bus stop this morning wasn almost impossible so I think I'm going to hasve to go home from work later - my job means i'm constantly up and down and walking around but I just can't do it. I just moved my leg and got the worst pain! aaaargh.
Anyone else suffer from this? I used to get it when I was younger if i had done alot of netball/running during the week but i havent had it this bad before!
Ouch,I got shin splints the first time I started C to 5 k - its a sure sign that you are doing too much ,remember, Robert says "you are teaching your body to run " You could try a ice pack to relieve the pain, but consider your wrist slapped and don't do it again !0 -

Hehe thanks! I know I should've eased back into it - I just carried on running because i wasn't tired! had yesterday and today as rest days (no pain in my shins today!) then going back out tomorrow with my foster sister, so am actually going to stick to the podcast as its her first time out too! Don't think it helped because even the thr road i run on is one straight mile long road, its a gradual down hill to half way, than gradual uphill the other side, not much flat at all ! the bonus side of it though, 3 runs this week and i've lost around 5 lbs!0 -

I am on week 4 at the moment. Still finding it hard though
What a day I'm having, today is the day my cat is being rehomedhis new owners were here at 12pm to take him but no matter how much we tried we could not get him in his box, I am scratched to shreds and my cat was shaking and terrified, such a shame.
They are going to come back a bit later to give him time to calm down again. My LL is also coming in about 10 mins which will probably unsettle him more too  not having a good day at all.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Did week 4 again yesterday - I'm trying to pluck up the courage to move on to week 5 !!! I know that I've got to be "a big brave girl " and go for it but if I remember rightly from last time, the 1st run is OK,but moving on to the 2 x 8min runs is a killer !!!0

hi all,
I finally managed to overcome the excuses and did my first run tonight... however it was without the podcast as I couldnt get it to work on either my MP4 player or my phone.
I played my own music though and just did what I felt comfortable with ... possibly I was a bit lazy tho!! I really enjoyed it and really hope I can go again soon (so many things seem to get in the way).

Hey Jen and welcome!!
Have you downloaded the mp4 files or the mp3's? I couldn't get the mp4s to work but you can find mp3 files here: http://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/page6/page6.html just right-click on the 'podcast' and 'save link as' to save the podcast as an mp3. Works fine on my bog-standard mp3 player!
All the best with it, stick at it and you'll be at week 9 before you know it!!!!
(just started week 4 today...)
