Hugs to webitha. Get better soon!

Yesterday I went to the gym, and realised I could do my run on their treadmill. I didn't have my mp3 player though, so had no idea what to do. But I tried anyway, and then had no idea how fast I wanted to run. I chose 8, as 4 seemed a nice speed to walk at so I figured I might run twice as fast. Then I had the fun of figuring out how to change the speed and stuff at the start and end of the run
I did a 5 min run, which was ok. Then I did a 3 min run but I got bored during the next 5 min run and cut it short.
So I've realised I don't envy you with your cushy treadmills. They're boring and complicated and always make me feel really dizzy afterwards.

Then later at home I decided I wanted to go for a run. I knew I'd ache today, so I might as well ache because I'd done it properly! It wasn't as bad as I'd been expecting. I did go quite slowly, but I also went quite far. On the way back, I managed to run all the way from the top of the hill to where I cross the road, which I'd never have managed a few weeks ago!

I'm sure next week I'll be nowhere near good enough for the 20 min run, so I'm planning on doing each "day" several times. I'm aiming to get to 5k by Christmas, though, so I don't want to take too long.

  • I actually went out today :j but only for a mile and a half round the block before school pickup time :o. The weather was AWFUL. Biting headwind and rain to start off - and I'd pushed the wrong button on my heart rate monitor so it won't count towards my weekly exercise goal. :( Boo! And I wore my Aldi earwarmer headband. I looked like Zoolander, but I didn't care.

I'd meant to go out yesterday for a flat 3 miler, but OH had booked a days holiday so I spent time with him instead.

I'm going to try another flat 3 miler tomorrow - and who knows I might actually do it! :D

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

right ive been and checked and am going to give this go - it will actually have less running in it than im doing now

    Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Walk 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
    • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
the next bit of week 5 doesnt look tooooo bad either ....
    Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
    • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
    • Walk 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
    • Jog 3/4 mile (or 8 minutes)
definitely going to move onto week 5 now !!!

I know what you mean,I've been doing the podcasts, off and on for just over 18 months - I have to resist the urge to shout "same as last time -bloody awful" when Mr Ullrey asks " how are you feeling ?"

Me and DH were out running earlier, and were remarking on the fact that people could be doing this podcast all over the world and listening to Robert's voice...weird, isn't it! (well I think so anyway)

    I talk to him too:o
  • Hi all

I went out for my 2nd run last night - although its more of a 10 minute walk to the long road I run down, then once I started running I just carried on. I find that I don't realise how knackered I am until I stop, so I try to carry on. Think I ran continously through the first 3 runs and rests, then walked for about 5 minutes, then ran again through to the last 2 runs and intervals. The way back is a gradual uphill killer - i've set myself markers (road signs, benches etc) so tomorrow i'll have to get that little bit further up the hill without stopping.

I know I should probably follow the podcast more and stop, but the 60 seconds go so quick that bynthe time i'm just getting into it, i have to stop.

I also find it so much better running in the dark because there's not really anyone around. I didn't go out until 7pm last night rather than half 5 (i had to stay at work a bit later) but i'm trying to motivate myself to get up at 5am in a morning so I can run before work and get it out of the way rather than having to do it when i get in. So far i've managed to wake up at 5am - just not get out of bed and get dressed! give it time!
