    Anyone else running today?

Not today. OH usually tries to come with me at the weekend (which never works :o). I've been for an hour's swim with DD2(11) instead and will be doing my 3 mile flat course tomorrow. I need to break myself of the habit of setting off downhill. Where we live is at the top of a hill so whichever way you set off it's either fairly flat followed by downhill or straight downhill. The uphill on the way back is a bit rubbish, but at least I'm properly warmed up by then.

A couple of miles away is a Sustrans cycle track (old railway line). I know it's a mile and a half to the bridge and (surprisingly :p ) a mile and a half back again. The weather forecast is awful, but as long as it's not windy I'm definitely going. Running in the rain is OK by me and I can exercise the dogs at the same time. Bonus!

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

I'm supposed to be running today, but I've just cycled home from work in the rain so I'm all wet. If it stops raining I'll go in a bit.

Your on the list :D The podcast and the girls here do make it easier to keep on going. I would have given up by now otherwise I think :)

Thanks :D went out for the first session today and didn't find it as hard as I thought I would. I'm so paranoid about seeing people I know while i'm out running, so I took the dog and had a brisk half hour walk to the woods where we usually go, and instead of just walking round, i did the podcast - and its pefect timing for coming back out of the woods to get home - on the way back i decided to run for an extra 5 minutes or so - I know I probably shouldn't but I didn't really feel like i'd done much, and it was slightly uphill coming home, and raining and cold so I wanted to get home quicker!

I'm going to try and rope my sister into doing it with me - now its getting dark earlier i'd much prefer to run with someone and it will motivate me to do it more - even though i've got the dog he's so dim I doubt he'd be able to look after me should anything happen!

Your fitter than the rest of us already ;)

I know what you mean about it getting dark, I run down a really dark road, no streetlights on it, I really need to find a new place to run at night, it's so dark I can't even see where the path ends and the road starts!

It's rubbish isn't it. I've got a road that is about a mile long, and straight, there's nothing on either side the whole way apart from trees and farmers fields, but luckily its a really busy road so plenty of light on there. Bad thing though is that everyone seems to run along there, and i'm still not 100% confortable having people see me run if that makes any sense? i'm a size 16-18 and always worry that people will be smirking at me - even the people in the cars! Even though I know they won't be, they've got more interesting things to think about rather than a stranger running - but there's always that insecurity there. Hopefully as I carry on i'll start losing the extra weight - and while it's dark i can wear a hat and no one will really be able to reognise me! hehe! It's blooming cold and rainy outside, but i soon warmed up!

I find the warm up horrible, it's so cold but yea once you start running it's fine :)

I'm the opposite, I get worried about people seeing me walking with my running gear on ;) I much prefer to be running because I think about the fact that I don't bat an eyelid when someone is running past me, I don't even notice them most times! I wouldn't worry about it, your most likely doing more than they are in regards to exercise so really they can't say a word :)

No running today :( I was really tired so I fell asleep, and then when I woke up it was dark and still raining, and my roof is leaking. Now I have a drip in my kitchen just above my wet bin, so I have wet bread. Not happy!

I run along a main road, and it's fine. Sometimes I get inconsiderate van drivers (always seems to be vans) who shout things at me, but with the podcast on I can't hear them. So they must be shouting, "well done!" ;)
Once I did have to walk past some workmen, who said I wasn't running. So I said they weren't working either.
Once I did see someone I know from work, and it's inspired her to want to start running. She has a treadmill though.
On my last run, I was waiting to cross the road during my cool down, and I didn't want to stop moving so I was walking on the spot. Some woman in her car did slow down and give me a funny look.

I've had to buy a new sports bra. I've lost weight (a combination of this and the pie club) and my old one no longer supports me. I'm gonna knock myself out soon
