Forgot to say, after the cinema tonight I was walking past a running shop (run-4-it) and seen a sign in the window advertising a free running group (the word beginners was mentioned in there). Do you think I'd be too unfit to join?
I have emailed for more information...
Heck no, you'll be fine - give it a go. The group I joined were absolute beginners. We all developed at different paces, some quicker than others. We all ran together because if the speedy ones got too far ahead they had to double back to the end of the group and run through again. In a good group no-one will be left behind.
Running in a group helps you to keep going at the times you'd probably stop if you were running alone (not that I've ever done that .)
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.
Oi you lot - pleaseGIVE BLOOD

Mm I don't know if I have the guts for it... will see what they say in the reply to my email and decide from there :eek:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

Pah!It's free (very MSE) and I bet you every single other person who has asked for details is feeling just like you. Those who can run much faster/further than you won't think of themselves as beginners so they won't be there.
Like you say though, wait and see. Maybe go along once or twice just to see what it's like.

I'm also worried about what I wear :rotfl: I just wear joggy bottoms and a huge old jumper, will they all wear proper running clothes?

Actually that's a serious point -sorry:rolleyes:
I started with a group in June I think it was, so people were wearing pretty much either leggings (too warm for joggy bottoms) baggy shorts or calf length running / gym shorts and a BIG t-shirt. We came in all shapes, sizes, ages and levels of fitness. No one wore those scary running micro shorts with slits up the side thank God .
I sometimes wear one of those £6 zip up fleeces you can get in Sainsburys (probably got the same in Asda) in black rather than a jumper. I can regulate my heat better depending on how zipped up it is. Calf length running shorts are what I wear most. I also picked up a couple of running vests (£4) in the TKMaxx sale. I bought some grey 'longs' and a matching grey and pink jacket in Aldi a couple of weeks ago although I haven't worn them both together yet as I think I'll get too warm.
If you're worried get yourself some black leggings / joggers and a black fleece. Needn't cost much and black is VERY flattering to the lumpy bits I find. Also a bit dangerous running in the dark in black so you might need some fluro reflectors.

I'm still running! But not today, which is a good thing as my other bird is scared of fireworks, and I don't think I could run with her down my jumper.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
