I want a nice treadmill! Going up the hill is really hard, and going down is just as bad as I try to go too fast and then can't breathe!

  • Just for info (I know we should really be talking about running) - an hour's gentle bimbling about in the swimming pool used up 250 calories  Who knew 'old lady swimming stylee' would burn so much  :D. Just in case we can't go for a run then swimming is a good alternative.

And I didn't manage to fry myself using the monitor in the pool  (did check on the internet first to find out if it was safe :))

  • Things haven't gone well for me, did my first run last Monday, that was fine. Wednesday came and the cat had to go to the vet urgently so couldn't go then, Friday came and I hurt my back at work, now I've just been to the docs and running is out of the question for at least a week

Hi, Just done week 4 again - (Believe me it does get easier) but I think that I'll be sticking to week 4 for at least another week, as on week 5 you build up to a 20 minute run ( yep,you read it right !!) Week 5 consists of 3 different runs, run 1 - X 5min run
    run 2 - X 8 min
    run 3 -X 20 min

Even though I ran today,I think that I'll go tomorrow as well 'cos I'm at work for the rest of the week and I'll find excuses not to go.

I seen that week 5 was 20 minutes and died a little inside :rotfl:

Right - this is the bit where I got stuck :o. For what it's worth I think it's too much of a jump from Week 4 to Week 5. I ended up making my own podcasts from tracks from iTunes. I had a couple of tracks that were 60 secs long which I interspersed with tracks of varying lengths until I made up the correct time.

I also joined (for a short time) a running group's beginners course that got me up to the 2 1/2 mile mark. After that I learned to pace myself up to the 3 1/2 mile mark. Here endeth the boring lesson :p.

I've just had a nice ham sammich and bucket of tea for lunch so I'll be going out about 2pm. As long as it doesn't rain.......or the fog comes back.......or Me Mutha rings...........:o ;):D

Thanks for the idea. Last time I did the C to 5K I carried on running and did a "bit extra" after each run, making the recovery walk a bit shorter each time - It also had a great psychological effect because each time I did it I was beating the podcast !!
