    Hi,
I know that I promised to run on Saturday, but, erm, but[strike] The dog ate my trainers,[/strike][strike]I lost my door key[/strike]OK,so I couldn't quite get motivated enough !!

Anyway I've just come back from a run OMG it was hard( that will teach me) Started off on week 4,but half way through the 1st 5 min run I knew that I wouldn't make it !! so switched back to week 3 and managed to complete that.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.
  • Like nottslass it all went a bit wrong for me over the weekend. OH decided that he'd come with me yesterday - but that never works :o. I need to plod along at my own pace, not at speedy bloke pace. We had a 20 minute [strike]'sprint'[/strike] faster than comfortable plod around the block so I got a stitch! :(

    Anyhoo enough of my excuses.

I'm thinking of going out later (breaking the one day's rest rule :o). There are no proper excuses not to. It's a beautiful day, the dogs have had a good walk, my kit it clean and almost dry. I have had a big piece of fruit cake instead of lunch :o  so I'll have to give that a couple of hours to settle. I'll check back later to either confess I could get myself motivated or to tell you how the pulse monitor works on a proper run. :)

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • Have just got back from my first run, didn't manage to get through the whole podcast as I had my dog with me but we did manage to get to the 4th run before he [STRIKE]i[/STRIKE] collapsed . He needs to loose some weight so the weeks may take a bit longer :rotfl:
    Virgin CC=£2652, Next= [STRIKE]£102.88,[/STRIKE] Very=£475.60, Natwest=£800, Sainsburys CC=£1777.02, Lloyds CC=£498.29, Lloyds Loan= £13,946.18, Car=£4000Total = [STRIKE]£26,147.23[/STRIKE] £23,849.09:eek:
  • Hmmmm....... well that went badly :o.

The clues should have been in a) cake for lunch and b) breaking the 'one rest day rule'. :o:o

20 minutes in and I'm running like I could run forever and then BAM - hunger hit! I ground to a halt a couple of miles from home. I could have eaten a scabby donkey between two bread vans. Serves me right. Not properly fed and not properly rested.

*Goes to sit on naughty step to think about what I've done :o.*

Hi all, Great thread, just read it all!..just wanted to pop on to say well done to everyone, I know it isn't easy starting out but like someone else has said- it does get easier if you stay with it!! I LOVE running!! 2yrs ago I decided Id like to do race for life that year so I started with the couch potatoe to 5k podcast. I could only run for 2mins before stopping to get my breath! I'd only got about 3 or 4 runs into it when a friend decided she was gonna do it too,so I stopped listening to the podcast and just started training with her instead. We were amazed at how quickly the body learns, and gets fitter! Within 3 months we went to race for life and ran the whole 5k. Not a very fast time (36mins I think it was) but still we did it!! After that, things kinda got in the way and we let the running slip a little. Anyway to cut a long story short- I run on my own treadmill twice a week and at the moment Im finding I can run 6miles (in 56mins) without feeling like Im gonna die. Tonight I was abit short of time so just did a 3miles. Did it in 26mins..my best yet!! Ive been inspired by this thread to think about getting a good heart moniter so I can be sure I'm working in the fat burning zone.
Keep it up girls, your doing marvellous!

    Thanks Helen :D

I think I would pass out by just thinking about running 6 miles ;) If after two years I can run 6 miles I'll be dead happy :D seems like I'll never do it just now!

Hear that everyone, we're doing marvellous :T

week 3 run 1 - done - said in gordon ramsey stylee

its really not that bad tbh - goes really quickly cos only 4 intervals
but now the bad news - as you know im doing this on a treadmill in my nice cosy dry gym so ive been knocking the speed up as soon as he speaks and leaving it on high for a good 10 secs or so after he says to slow down - to this end i was averaging 215 cals and 3.4km
well i stuck to todays run exactly and only burnt 190 cals and travelled 1.9km !!!! no wonder it didnt feel to bad !!!
i guess its to get us used to running for longer distances at a time but still found those stats quite a disapointment

so come on guys - week 3 really isnt that bad - lets do this !!!!

    xx

edit to add think that sould be 2.9km ......

Yea I've just been trying to focus on not dying rather than speed, I'm sure an OAP could overtake me some nights :rotfl:

I will be doing my week 3 run tonight, I'm pretty sure I might die...

Done my week three :) Had a stitch the whole way through because I ran too quickly after eating but other than that it was surprisingly okay. Legs got a bit more tired but wasn't too difficult.

Next run is on Fri, hopefully without the stitch!
