Thanks Goppers, will I need single or full strike ones? What difference is there?! I'll try anything to make it abit more bearable. I'm meant to be doing my next run tommorow but I'm struggling to just walk today without saying 'ouch' alot!

Generally speaking, the full strike/double strike would be my recommendation - I might be missing something, but I don't see any point in getting less protection for the same money...

As bg suggests, getting "proper" running shoes, or at least doing a gait analysis to rule them out might be a good idea - if your gait is *way* off normal, you're never gonna find it comfortable to run in normal shoes.

I reckon the sorbothanes are a decent bet at alleviating mild symptoms - and have certainly found them to work myself - but they're no substitute for proper preparation for running, or for taking it slowly - so just make sure you're not pushing too hard too fast...

Haven't started week 2 yet, but am going to tomorrow - the weather was so bad this weekend i didn't want to get sick. Tomorrow morning before work though! Run numero uno.

Hi Helen81, as Idiophreak has recommended, go for the "full strike" ones. But also worth checking out your running shoes as well. It worked for me but everyone is different!

I managed run 1 for week 5 yesterday and surprisingly it went well, I did find the run much easier than the week 4 runs. I forgot my sports bra yesterday and had to run in my normal bra... goodness me, i thought my boobies were going to bounce off my chest!! :rotfl:I won't be forgetting that again in a hurry lol.

Still worried about the last run but feeling a little bit more confident than I was before I did last nights run...

    Good luck everyone!

Hi Goppers personally I think you should be pleased you have something to bounce!:) I have just bought myself a sports bra on e-bay just in case when I reach anything above a snails pace it should become necessary. Well done on your run.
I have managed week 2 run 3 today . It wasn't too bad but at the moment I am not sure I could do anymore. I have a sore throat and feel a bit run down so I am glad that I don't have to do anything else till Friday. Though I did walk to work and back today just to add to my general fitness levels.
    Bramble1 have you run today?
A big than you to the encouraging words from Belfastgirl23, Goppers,Helen81 and Bramble1. I checked again today..still no weight loss but it must have an effect soon.
By the way Juno if you are still reading this I have read your threads and I am hugely impressed.

*sneaks into the back of the room and hopes no-one notices she's been gone*

    Hey everyone

I'm off to the gym tonight to re-attempt week 5 day 1. After my weekend away I had a mega pity-party generally !!!!ing everyone off around me with how tired I was and how little energy I had, I ran out of clean clothes, ate toast for tea every night for 5 days and generally sulked for a whole week. I gave myself a proper talking to at the weekend and now I am back on the wagon.

Have started an aerobics class with a friend from work, back to the gym tonight, and back on track with healthy food too. So we'll pretend last week didn't happen, yeah? good.

20 weeks til my 10k, 28 weeks til my half marathon:eek:

Glad to see the rest of you are keeping up the good work,

    Katrina

Ooh I've just found this thread. I've stupidly signed up to do a 10k run in September and I can't even run to the loo at the moment :rotfl:
I'm going to start this on Wednesday next week, as we're going away for a few days over the weekend. Ooh can't wait, I'm excited now :D
