So I did go for another run last night. And I did end up with another headache. Which now is a migraine... This is not good so far if after every run I end up like this!

Sorry to hear about your headaches ginvst. It must be very disappointing for you. I am finally feeling just a little bit better but I think I will have to leave starting week 3 until Tuesday as I am being taxi service for my children today.:D

    Hey

Thanks for the words of encouragement last week, I really needed those. Still totally freaked out by how unfit I am and how fast my deadlines are approaching. Sorry to hear about migraines and other pains getting people doown. You guys are inspiring me to carry on when I start panicking!

I tried to get back on track last week and I went for a run on my lunch break. It didn't go too well unfortunately, I couldn't make the runs, and I ended up doing a 3 minute run and 2 2 minute runs before I quit totally and went on the exercise bike. I did make a load of excuses for myself - I hadn't run for 2 weeks, I didn't do my usual ten minute bike warm up, it was a different treadmill so I wasn't sure on my speeds, etc. Still felt pretty rotten, but one of friends made me realise that I *will* be able to make it round both the courses, just need to keep working towards the goal of running most of it.

Today I decided to go for a run outside, and took my boyfriend along since I don't know the streets around here too well and I didn't want to get lost. As predicted I found it difficult to set my pace, and he ran on ahead. I tried to do week 5 day 1 and it was soooo hard, but I did manage to do the first 2 runs. The last one was so hard though, and I felt like I was going to throw up, I was nearly crying. I started walking probably 2 minutes into the last run, and I was so disappointed, but my boyfriend wouldn't let me quit, and he made me do another 3 mini runs on the way home. So I'm feeling pretty alright now, still panicking, but hopefully it'll be ok. Running outside is slightly easier than the treadmill so if the weather keeps up then it should be good. Think I might go back to week 4 for a little bit though.

Good luck to everyone for next week!

    K

Sooo do you think that a year and a half after I started this thread it's too late to decide to take up running again? :rotfl:

    :hello:

I'm redoing week 3 this week as I only managed to get in 1 run last week due to feeling crap and my birthday, so I'm just feeding the baby then off we go upstairs to my treadmill for week 3 run 1.

Ginvzt- are you properly hydrated before and during your runs? Dehydration is often the culprit for headaches. I'd try sipping water and if no better, see a doctor.

Drea- its never too late :D
love my little man he is amazing :j

Drea, you should definately start running again. Your posts back in the day inspired me, and I'm sure they inspired others too. Keep going everyone!

I do drink before. I can't drink much during the runs, only an occasional sip, so I leave with more than half of my water bottle (which is 0.5l). But I do drink plenty afterwards!

I'll give it a go for this week and see how it goes. If no better, I might have to go and see GP... I just don't want to be put on some medicine, as we are trying for a baby and I don't want to live on ibuprofen/paracetamol!

Great to see our little band of travellers increasing -welcome Clare and Ally :) and welcome back Drea

Helen, Ginvzt and Teachergirl hope you're all feeling better and peppop hope the return went ok!

Treeny that's deadly trying to run with someone who is faster than you, I really think you'd be better going alone even if you do get a bit lost :) it's hard on the confidence being the snail (I know cos I've been there) and going too fast is the surest way not to complete the distance you want to do.

As for me, well I went for the week 6 run 3 yesterday. Not entirely successfully, I took a bit of stiffness at the side of my knee about halfway through and had to walk for a couple of mins till I recovered my mojo. But managed the 25 mins just with the little break.

I've also been walking in the evening with a friend of mine. I don't know what happened but tonight I've done something that has left me with a sore bum :) on the right hand side quite high up. It's not going to kill me but it is uncomfortable. And guess what I did? Totally against all of my own medical advice I googled it and now think I have sciatica when I've never had any kind of sore back :o when I think of the number of times I've said to people 'google is not your friend when it comes to health issues' and yet here I am.

Keep your fingers crossed I waken up full of beans.
