Completed week1!!
although today think i missed the last rep because my delightful dog decided that going on a rampage through a building site was more fun than running down the road with me....
But! week 2 shall start either tomorrow or sunday.
Feels good to finish this week and have stuck to it.
Yay, well done Bramble!!0 -
Well today I did week 2 run 1. Who would have thought that, that extra 30 seconds could make such a difference????:D
I decided to run at 7.30am straight after I had walked my dogs because it was only raining lightly at the time. This seemed like a good plan because Tuesday when I started my run it was not raining. Half way through it rained.(not too bad.) Then it snowed.(still not too bad.) Then it hailed(This really hurt!!!) and then it went back to just raining. All in the space of half an hour. So today I checked the weather forecast ...rain all day so light rain seemed like a good bet. Now it is lovely and sunny:mad:
Oh well. It feels really great just to have done it. I can't believe you started like us Juno and so later this evening I am going to take the time to read back over all the threads, I'd love to think I could get that fit from where I am now.
Belfastgirl23 ,obssessed with weather forecasts as I am now I found myself watching yours this morning!!! Good luck tomorrow.
Well done Bramble1. I wish my dogs were fit enough to come with me but they are old and have heart conditions so I will just have to use their walks as my warm ups.:(
Gopppers love the sound of your chocolate cake, you are my type of keep fitter:)
Well I think this is all for now. Keep running everyone.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Teachergirl - i'm actually considering leaving him at home next time! He's a bit of a nuisance! I thought it would be nice company and good exercise for him but i spend too much worrying about what he's doing!
Well done on starting week 2, how was it?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
Hi there Bramble1. Well it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I deliberately did not read what you had to do just listened to the instructions and Obeyed:D
I am stiffer than I was after run 3 even though I did my stretching exercises but not as bad as I felt after the very first run. It is definately achievable even for complete sofa loving newbies like me.
Good luck.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Hi guys well I'm feeling totally proud of myself having managed the dreaded 20 min run this morning :j:j:j I was a bit worried about it, in fact the thought of it has been hanging over me all week. It was glorious this morning in Belfast though and the run itself was very pleasant although I think I started a bit fast and the first few mins were difficult but I slowed right down and that seemed to help. I was probably a bit under the estimated 2 miles but that's fine.
How's everyone else coming??0 -
Well done Belfastgirl:j. You must really feel like you are achieveing something now. I actually did my run on Saturday afternoon which I think may have been a mistake. The weather forecast here for Sunday morning(due run date) was a severe weather warning. Now I'm not obsessed with the weather but I have not yet run in anything that wasn't rain or worse. So I decided to go on Saturday afternoon. The reason it was a mistake was that, I had no rest day but plus I had walked at a very fast pace 3 miles in the morning. So I don't think I did my best and found it a little hard. However my son had a sleep(??) over last night and I am sure I would not have made a run this morning even if we had ,had fantastic weather.
Also and this is a little disheartening I have actually put on 1lb in weight. How can this have happened? I have not been dieting but I have only eaten the same as normal
How is everyone else doing?Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Well done Bramble1, Teachergirl and Belfastgirl23 for completing your weeks! I managed to finish week 4 on Friday. Still very nervous about starting week 5 today and that dreaded last run... so much so that i'm still contemplating re-doing week 4!
Help!

Teachergirl, that 1lb is most likely muscle that your body has laid down in response to your running..when I started the plan a few weeks ago I started a diet at the same time and have only just started losing weight. Your body will adjust, don't worry, just keep doing what you're doing.
I completed my last run of week 2 yesterday, went ok but I'm still suffering with my knees. Can any experienced runner give me any advice on it please? It isn't actually my knees that hurt,it's the area right next to the knee bone, where the leg bends..feels like a massive bruise, really tender to touch, uncomfortable to run on but I'm carrying on through it.
Starting week 3 tommorow, wish me luck,I'm gonna need it!!love my little man he is amazing :j0 -
Helen do you have proper running shoes? If not it could be problems coming from your feet but just being felt in your knees. Either way it's worth seeing a physio just to rule out any biomechanical problems.
And Gopps just go for it. It doesn't feel any easier for putting it off, I can vouch for that!
Teachergirl don't read too much into the weight gain, we can gain for all sorts of reasons and often by the time you next weigh yourself it's gone. If you know you're doing the right things it will sort itself out.
I did some crosstraining today doing resistance training with my legs (cycling, adductor, abductor, box squats etc) and legs are feeling a bit stiff. think my next run will have to be Wed0 -
Hi Helen81, you could try the sorbothane insoles... my knees used to bother me and buying a pair of them have helped my knees from not hurting as much, not completely cured I have to say, but a LOT better. I did find after the first week I had a tenderness in one of my knees, almost inflamed and painful to touch but after a coule of days it went away... i know, not much help, but hopefully yours is temporary like mine was! HTH
