Sorry teachergirl didn't answer your question
it's hard to tell because I changed my whole exercise routine and I had been trying to lose weight anyway but all I can say is that in the last week I have had 5 different people say 'ooh have you lost weight' even though I've been very slowly losing since August and I've probably only lost another lb or two in the meantime. So I think the running is maybe helping my shape as much as my weightloss if you see what I mean
can't do any harm in any case

Thanks belfastgirl23. You are right I'm sure it all helps.(Except when like me you then eat half a tub of Ben and Jerrys.) I need to be able to fit into my clothes again and generally feel healthier and thats what I am hoping I will get.
Anyway , Looking forward to hearing how all your runs have gone.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Thanks for thoses stretchs Juno, i did a few before my run (Stretches i vaguely remember doing in p.e) but i don't think i did them properly.
Went for a walk today with the dog and found that the local nature place we go to has a trail thats 5k long, so next sunday i'm going to walk it to get an idea of the real distance.
Run number 2 is tomorrow, looking forward to it.
I have notice an old injury seems to be a bit achey today. I fell over when i was verrrry drunk last summer and sprained my ankle ( i think) i couldn't walk on it for a few days and today it's been rather painfull....anything i can do to ward this off in the future?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

Hi guys,
Just checking in to say I went to the gym tonight - I was a good girl and did all my weight exercises and then did my treadmill stuff after. The only problem is, as you can see by the time of this post, I'm sitting on the couch watching the olympics and trying to figure out how to get up and go to my bed cos I've seized up. OH is sound asleep and I don't think the cats are gonna be any help.:rotfl:
Tomorrows my rest day so I'll check back in on Wednesday.0 -

This makes me wonder...I've never run off a program, so I don't know, but do you think it's motivating to know what your next steps are, or demotivating? Is it easy to take it one step at a time, or are you always thinking "if I'm struggling with this, I'll never be able to do week 5..." like I said, just wondering0 -

I actually think, now after my first week 4 run, it's demotivating... yesterdays runs didn't go as well as I wanted it to. I managed the first 3 and five minute runs (found it hard) the second 3 minute run was a disaster, i, for some reason, had to go back into a walk after a minute running. Just struggled with it. But on the plus side, I managed the last 5 minute run but it wasn't easy! I think for me, its the recovery times, which are getting shorter and not long enough for me to get running again. Ah well, we'll have to see how I get on on Wednesday. If i'm struggling - week 4 will have to be done twice!
Oh dear!(

Week 2 run 1 completed (with my 3 month old baby watching me from his bouncy chair
)
Went ok as it could of..had to wear a support bandage on my knee (old runners knee flaring up again) and my mind wasn't fully focused on it as I kept looking behind to see if my baby was ok. Despite this I did it all but found that going from the running back to the brisk walks make my calf muscles really hurt!! Like really tight and burning..anyone else feel this and what is it?? It goes away after 20secs or so but I'd rather not have to suffer it!
I'm also trying to lose weight,my baby blubber, but I've got mad with the scales as there telling me I'm putting weight ON!!! I've been watching what I eat so I know thats abit impossible so I assume it's my body laying down muscle in response to my new running regime?
Next run will be Thursday, then Saturday.love my little man he is amazing :j0 -

Excercise can sometimes cause your body to retain water, so you may have not actually put on weight
Can you feel a change in your fitness now you are on week 2?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
