Hi everyone. Thanks for the supportive messages....week 1 run 2 tomorrow. I don't ache as much as I thought I would today, though I am a bit stiff when I get up from sitting and walk like a pensioner.(I am under 50 but only just!) Now this is the first thread I've followed in ages and I used to get an e-mail when people posted but I haven't this time, has something changed or have I just forgotton what to do? I thought nobody had posted so it was a lovely surprise when I found everyones comments. At this moment I'm feeling really positive reading everybody elses struggles makes me think I can do it too. Not sure about the diet thing though...I ate half a tub of Ben and Jerrys last night... I have promised myself I won't do it again but it's the end of half term and I hate thought of going back to work Monday.(at least thats my excuse.):)Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0

I don't know about getting emails but mine is set so that I can use usercp (at the top of the page) to go into threads I've subscribed to. If you go into thread tools and pick 'subscribe' you should be able to do this too teachergirl. Also on the stiffness it's worth trying a hot bath or even if you can a gentle swim after a run, it does cut down on the soreness. Walking a little bit at the end also helps. But some stiffness is probably unavoidable0

Thanks so much Belfastgirl23. I had forgotton that you had to click at the top to subscribe. I have done that now and set it to instant notification by e-mail so hopefully I will now know when someone posts. I will have a nice hot bath tonight. My Husband has come back from skiiing today which means I don't have to give the dogs there late night walk. I never feel like having a bath if I have to go out again afterwards!
have you lost any weight since you have been running belfastgirl23 ? I am hoping that as well as getting fit, I will loose some weight and start to feel better about myself.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
I completed my first run today! It wasn't as bad as i expected but definately can feel it. Should have had a bath afterwards. Did a 10 min walk to cool down though as the puppy decided we needed to take a detour home!
Not sure if i should do my next run on Monday or Tuesday...Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

You will ache awfully at first, but after your body gets used to running it will lessen. Just make sure you're following the plan and having rest days! You might also want to look into doing some running stretches.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Thanks Juno...yes I know I should .....I will try and fit it in!
I am feeling quite proud today. Got up at 7.15am in order to fit my run in, as I knew I would be far too busy for the rest of today. It was sleeting and the pavements were Icy so I took it slow. Inside I kept thinking I MUST BE MAD:D
Hello to Bramble1 and Helen81 it's good to have some other "week oners" to chat too as anyone who is above week 3 is now a scary professional as far as I am concerned.:rotfl: Seriously though Thanks to everyone who posts here ,it was partly the fact that I could come on and say I'd done it that made me go and do it.It won't be as easy next week when I am back at work and will have to run in the evenings when I am tired but at least I have made a start!Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
I must be really scary then - I've done the Race For Life twice, completed one half marathon and am training for my 2nd :eek:Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Well done you.Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Well I can't be terrifying because I run at the pace of a snail
Just popped by with some reassurance - sneaked a peek at week 6 and it is actually not as bad as the end of week 5 imho - yes you are building up the time but you get breaks in between so if we make it to the end of week 5 it will get less bad - I hope. If anyone knows any different please don't burst my bubble0
