Hi fellow newbies
I'd hoped to do my second run of week 2 today but I got a new gym programme yesterday and a sort of personal training session and I ache all over today! Introduced to the joys of The Plank and to a particularly new and torturous type of lungeI will go tomorrow morning though, hoping my aching legs will have settled enough by then.
The gym instructor also said I should start paying attention to my heartrate. Took my resting HR this morning and it's around 60 which seems ok for a 40 year old tubby personIs anyone else trying this?
And penpop I am off to google 5k runs in my area0 -
Hi belfastgirl23 - oooh the plank! Makes me ache just remembering it  Have you tried the one where you prop yourself against a wall as if you're sitting in a chair. OUCH! Good luck with finding a 5K.0

Found one (I think) for April although of course there's no info up about it yet but it's happened the last few years so hopefully will be okHopefully the plan will get me there in time - I have a feeling I might end up doing some of the weeks twice
Your exercise sounds even worse than mine btw!0 -

Nothing in Belfast alas
don't know if I'd be fit for it yet anyway.
Managed to do my 2/2 run - 90 secs on and 90secs off for 20 minutes run/walking a total of 2.3km. It was knackering though. And my heartrate was all over the place. A little old man in the gym stopped me to congratulate me for seeing it thoughso I obviously looked like I was working hard!! Think I will try to do my 3/2 run on Sunday.
I've only peeped at the week three stuff but man it scares the life out of me  Still faint heart and all that...
Hope everyone else is doing ok
peppop just realised you're doing SW as well :hello:0 -
Well I've completed my first week :j:j:j
On to week 2. I actually start running this week (or should I say jogging ) Keep you posted assuming I can still breathe at the end of it.
Belfastgirl23 - I'm on the Weight Loss thread but I'm just trying to eat healthily rather than use any definate diet. How are you getting on?0 -
Getting on well, 2lbs down this morning in my 'unofficial' Monday WI although I've been trying really hard
Managed my 3/2 run this morning - I was feeling a bit tired - did quite an intense workout on Saturday and still recovering - so I went a bit slower for the running parts of the programme. I also just had a peep and I'm aghast at the next step but hey ho, faint heart never won fair ladyI have to run 3 minutes in a row which will definitely be a challenge. The only thing I did realise today was that slowing down definitely makes it feel more manageable, so if I go down to 7k an hour I might have a chance at the three minutes. In any case I will hopefully try it out on Thursday.
Hope everyone else is doing well.0 -
I'm so jealous
It's far too icy round here to run outside, and I don;t have a cushy treadmill.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
