Well I have jumped on the bandwagon and downloaded the couch to 5k application for my phone and I have just completed the first session. I struggled a bit with the last couple of running sessions but I just about managed it. Please please tell me it gets easier though.

It does get easier believe me :)

Took a few weeks for me to be able to get through the sessions without feeling like I was dying and I really can jog 5k without stopping at the end of it all.

I got up bright and early this morning (6.30) and I went out and did week 1 day 2. I slowed my running down a bit and it was so much easier. I managed to get all the way through without feeling like I was going to collapse. Felt so much better than I did on Tuesday.

  • Hey guys,

Can I join in (again!) - I must've said about a dozen times that I was gonna try and get into running :o But this time, it kinda feels like something's clicked in my brain and I might actually do it!

I'm not following the C25K plan as such, I'm just trying to gradually increase how far I can run. I'm trying to get fitter overall, but mostly want to be able to run for at least 20 mins continuously.....

    So this week:

Tuesday: 45 min Bodyblitz class at the gym, followed by 40 min walk home
Wednesday: Swim 34 lengths (680 Metres)
    Thursday: Run/Walk combo (way there: 5 min jog, 2 walk, 3 jog, 2 walk, 1 jog. way back: 5min jog, 3 min walk, 2min 30 jog, 3 min 30 walk, 30 sec run :o)
    Friday: Run/Walk combo (way there, 6min 20 jog, 2 min 40 walk, 3min 50 jog. Way back: 3 min 30 jog, 5 min 30 walk, 30 sec jog 6 min 30 walk)

I'm running from the flat along a canal, and using one of the lock's as a benchmark - my first mini-aim is to run all the way there without stopping. I was so pleased with my self on the way there today (it's probably about 1.5 - 1.45 miles) - I did so much better than yesterday, but then I really struggled on the way back - my legs were so tired and I just couldn't run!

Do any of you find how much food and when you've eaten it has an effect on your energy levels? I went out without brekkie today and I'm wondering if that's maybe where I went wrong?

    xx

Just completed week 2 day 1. Went to stay with family last week and didn't manage to fit any running in at all. I decided to skip week1 day 3 and prey that I would manage the first session of week 2 and I did. I was so pleased with myself. It's still tough but I can see how it might get easier now. I may only be doing 90 seconds at a time, but 2 weeks ago I struggled with 60 seconds. I just need to keep it up now :-)

Well done Neonic! I found it a lot easier to be motivated once I felt the difference a few weeks made.

I am hoping to get back to the gym this week - was out of all this due to minor surgery, but as I am feeling better and need to get my energy levels up, I might even go tonight, depending on how I feel later. I started week 3 before my surgery, but I think I may need to fall back to week 2 due to all the 'no-activity' over the last 3 weeks!!!! But I am going to get running and I want to reach the final goal!!!! (And I promised myself running trainers when I complete week 4...)

Well i am really disappointed in myself. I haven't been running for nearly 2 weeks. I had just completed week 3 day 1. I really need the motivation to get back out there and carry on. Does ayone have any words of wisdom?

Me too! Two weeks ago today I completed week 2 day 3. I'll repeat it today if you will! We can motivate each other.:T
