Popped out and left DD and DH to remove dinner from the Remoska, telling them they could put the lid on top of the gas cooker rings.

Got home and the hot lid has been put directly on top of the ignition button and has melted it!!!!!

Have not made a fuss as it just means we have to keep using matches now and it is just possible that I may have done it myself.

    Evening all

Had a strange panicy feeling about me today and I don't know why. Off work now until Monday, so can get on with a few things.

Mum's made a tea loaf today. And cooking up mince for dinner.

Bins are out ready for recycling day - must take the glass down the road though.

    Nothing else to report

    Hope everyone's ok

I have done something I have never done before at work today :exclamati Okay now I have your attention... ;) No really, a customer didn't like their current supplier but was new to us, so we don't have enough time to move their contract to another one.. I got them a renewal quote but they really, really don't like their current supplier.. so I recommended they went onto out of contract rates as they were cheaper than a short term deal in todays market

    Evening all,

Beth, glad that your news was good to-day...definitely time to throw away the cotton wool I think. Glad that you are taking things easy and not doing too much cooking!
JackieO...don't you dare hang your head...not allowed!
Shez and Crazychic...where have you gone to??
Sybil...glad that you are going out and about with your young man...good for you both
    Mioliere...are you there and ok?
Celyn...you are fine until you go out with two odd shoes on....did it once years ago and they had different height heels...took a long time to live down.
Candygirl...that is such a rotten thing to do...is it legal?
Sunnyday...will have a go at that lovely looking soup recipe to-morrow, it might even be dinner for to-morrow night.
Anniestar...are you well? Lovely weather? It is not nice here to-day, left out the clothes that I forgot to bring in last night, they will dry sometime.

DDIL2 gave me a prepared duck the other day, so DD4 roasted it to-day for dinner...found it rather tasteless, we only ate a little with pots and carrots, going to strip the rest of the meat and maybe make a plum sauce and couscous or something with it some other day...any suggestions would be welcome.

Having sat in hospital from 10.30 am, DD3 and I eventually spoke to consultant: Ulick's stroke was caused by a clot from the heart and has affected the parietal lobe(?) which controls speech, while the improvement in his speech has been wonderful, he is going to need speech therapy for quite a while, initially in the hospital and later in another hospital nearer to us...as an out patient. They have put him on 5mg of Warfarin and need to monitor that to get to the point where his blood is 2/3 thinner than now, may need to change dosage to get it right and will allow him home when that is done. He is also to continue his beta blocker and to have a cholestrol control tablet daily, while his cholestrol is not high, the tablet has other beneficial affects. As Warfarin is processed by the liver, he is allowed to have one glass of wine daily and one only, he is to try and cut back on smoking too, but alcohol is the urgent one. He is not to drive or fly for at least six weeks. All in all, satisfactory chat with consultant, she was happy to answer all our questions, exercise is to be little and often and nothing strenuous...I made sure that he realised that he was lucky that the clot didn't mean 'bye-bye Ulick' so hopefully he will do what he has been told when he comes home.

I am trying to get the kitchen finished, including painting, before he comes home to avoid any hassle for him, would like to do the living room and our bedroom as well, but don't think it possible, kitchen is most important as that is probably where he will spend most of his time.

Hugs to all in need or want, thanks for all the good wishes, congratulations to all who are celebrating

Hi all - yes, I'm here! Had to 'cat'-sit DS2's and DIL's cat because he got into a scrap during the night and, as the vet found out, punctured his left eyeball so I've been doing the running around with him and have also had to be the nasty lady who has put his eyedrops in! Either DS2 or DIL would have taken the day off work but I said I could sort the cat out and made them both go. Have just had a phone call from DS2 to say that the cat has eaten and was in front of the fire having a good wash. From being in shock and crying this morning, he is definitely on the mend! It's surprising how pets become family members, isn't it?

The rest of the day has been taken up with housework and some paperwork.

I hope I haven't missed too much news; I will get up early tomorrow and try and catch up with today's thread - I hate being out of circulation like this but I was only too glad to help with the cat.

Will catch up with you all tomorrow.

    (((Hugs))) to everyone.

I've just had a visit from DS, he's moving into a flat with a friend soon & wanted advice of bugetting etc, lovely to see him.
Glad you had some good news MM.
Candy hope you get some work soon.
Our H & S guy came to talk to me today, hit the roof when he found out I was lifting 13kg boxes of paper from floor level, it seems a few people are in a panic as I have been 'forced' into doing something illegal, when they found out I have a Dr's appointment coming up the panic hit epic proportions. It was fun to watch, but nothing will change.
Still no word from BIL1 about any work for hubby & still no cheque from BIL2, hubby is really fretting about it, but I've written the money off, BIL2 is putting his wife & kids first, which I understand, though personally I don't believe her nails are more important than my mortgage.
I'm off to do some more crochet, I can't take it to work at the moment for reasons explained on my blog.
    Have a good evening.
    Hugs Hester

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:I now have coffee on my screen :)

*I would put tights over head and steal chocolate cake from next door. leaving a half-eaten pasty and a banana in its place to confuse them :)

At the moment I am craving bran flakes and caramel syrup. I understand the caramel syrup because I could happily drown in the stuff but I don't even like bran flakes, but it was a strong enough craving for me to go to tescos and buy a huge packet of them and now I am sitting here eating them by the handful. I want my marbles back, if anyone has seen them :) :rotfl:

  • Celyn - I've always understood that a craving for food meant that you needed a particular type of vitamin or thingy in it, so bran flakes may mean that you need the B vitamins (which would not surprise me in the least, I have been reading your posts with awe and amazement). It doesn't explain cravings during pregnancy really, as some ladies eat coal. I was just able to tolerate food far more spicy than normal and occasionally fancied a lager. Of course I didn't drink any, but I have braced myself for little bear growing up to be a rugby player.

Meanmarie - I am so glad that the news is good. What a close call. I hope your Ulick will listen to you.

Candygirl - I am so sorry that you are going through this. You just seem to be having no luck at all. Fingers crossed that as the term goes on there are more opportunities for you.

Hardup Hester - I have read your blog. Umm.... Just when you think you understand how odd people can be, something else crops up.

Little bear has decided to be very grumpy bear today. I didn't take him out as it has been raining. However I may take him out regardless of the weather tomorrow to hopefully convince him that a nap is a good thing. I feel like I've been steamrollered.

  • Evening all, I've decided to jump in on the action, it's too cold to lurk, might warm myself up typing.

I'm sat here with a cup of tea in my fav pink mug, and it's cheered me up no end, I'm not sure that a piece of crockery should really have that effect! Am sat here planning my keeping warm strategy, should really be putting it into action but it's the thought that counts right?
