HEIDIBOO, Are you sure you don't work for Parclefarce, they never deliver on time, nor on the due date. ;)
Hope things get moving soon, Take care.x

Don't you have to sign on delivery or they won't leave it??
  • Good morning all. What a washout of a day. I am feeling totally unmotivated and really just want to curl up on the sofa, read for a bit and then sleep! I do feel just an ickle bit proud that I put a lovely orgasmic chicken in the slow cooker overnight, so the house smells divine and I will be making chicken and potato pie later for the freezer, chicken and roasties for supper, and what's left will be sarnie fillings.

I really ought to be sorting paperwork. My OH will be moving in with me and my 3 kidlets in a couple of weeks, so need to organise drawer space for him, and inform council about their new tenant, and find out if it is ok for us to keep some chooks in the garden.

If I can find some ooomph from somewhere, I will traipse into Chelmsford to charity shops to find winter clothes for kids. How come they never seem to have any jumpers/cardies/hoodies? Where do they all go? With the odd socks?? I have a moral dilemma going on at the moment regarding shopping. I am trying not to buy anything new. I want to buy second hand, so being a little more eco friendly, not creating the need for more stuff to be produced, but when you can buy a nice fleece jumper from Asda for £2.50 and it costs £4.00 from charity shops......???? Oh what to do.... Save money or save the earth?

Ooops, I have rambled on a bit :o

Have a nice day everyone, despite the weather!
If I had a pound for every...... oh sod it, if I just had a pound I'd be richer!

I know what you mean about clothes cravingsaving. Asda have some good buys in George. I bought a 66% wool 3/4 length winter type black jacket for £15 yesterday! Its not the thickest coat ever, but for me nipping from house to car to work its perfect.

    Hi everyone

You might remember me from a little while back. Not had a great deal of time to post recently, but have been dropping in now and then to see how everyone's getting along. Sorry to hear some are still having tough times or feeling under the weather, hugs to anyone who needs them.

Can't stay long today as I am working from home. Was just dropping by for some motivation to keep me from turning the heating on while I'm shivering in the 'puter room! Motivation all topped up now, so will head off and grab my fluffy fleece and another nice hot cup of coffee. Cheers all :D

  • Morning Guys!

I'm pretty certain Sister doesnt come on here. She wastes too much money and doesnt go on the internet much apart from shopping to read OS:rolleyes: Anyway, maybe she should read about it, then she could see what her man (?) is really like;) Im glad it gave you all a laugh anyway. OH was in the shower this morning, so I shouted in "Don't drop the soap!":rotfl:

WM has been on and DW on and unloaded. House pretty clean and tidy.

OH has cleared out under the stairs, so have some more books/clothes etc to place on Freecycle. I really dont have the energy to list loads on Ebay, but do have a couple of high priced items that need going on later this week.

Had a letter from the council this morning to say that my Direct Payments have gone up by 2.5% and they will backdate from April 2008. It all helps me with my care and appreciate all their help.

OH got 4 large reduced pork chops last night reduced to 50p, so will change my meal plan as we are having that today with a tin of soup poured over and placed in the Remoska. Will do mash with it and some peas/beans and carrots.

On the way back from my sisters at the weekend we stopped at a little garden centre to get some fruit and veg but didnt get much as it was so expensive. It was all organic, but I got 1kg carrots, half kilo green beans, half cucumber and 2 pears and that came to £4.89:eek:     We had some of the veg last night and they did taste nice but that would only do us 2 meals as we eat alot of veg.

I am trying to budget our weeks food at £50 atm which is more than it was this time last year but the costs of food have gone up so much. Nipped into Sainsburys after hospital yesterday and spent £30 but we got quite alot and this should be enough for this week, although I need some mince beef on Friday as Im making a large Lasagna for folks Saturday. We have lots in, so it shouldnt be to difficult. Diesel is whats costing so much atm with all the hospital visits-its ridiculous!

    Anyway, I am waffling again.

Smokey-Dont overdo it please! Pace yourself and you will be fine. Thinking of you and glad my OH's ordeal made you laugh:D

    Hugs to all

  • Morning :hello:

Heidiboo - I really hope you've had the baby by now but if not - as Phoebe (I think) once suggested in Friends when Rachel was overdue - why not get somebody to hold your nose and blow into your mouth and the baby should just pop out the other end :D;)
    Where's Shez got to then?
Sunnyday, can I please have the recipe for the lentil and bacon soup?
lynseyann, sorry you're feeling ill :(
CravingSaving, I might regret asking this, but what the heck is orgasmic chicken? :D :rotfl:

I know what bootsalebabe means about letting people take responsibility for themselves during hard times. There are always going to be people who really need and deserve help (and I hope I will always be willing to offer assistance to people in that situation) but there are far more who have been very irresponsible and need a wake-up call. I think the best thing that could come out of this financial crisis is a nation of people who realise the importance of knowing how to prioritise life's basics - shelter, nutrition, gainful employment (where possible) - and making themselves as invulnerable as possible, rather than running off debts they never really believe they'll have to pay back.

Off to the gym later, possibly for a class but I think I'm just going to do a workout on the cross-trainer. I find it a lot more satisfying than the treadmill because you're working your whole body at once, plus you don't get the impact to your knees (my right knee has a tendency to seize up if I abuse it).

Anyway I'm busy at work so I can't stay and chat. Might be back this evening :) Am having sausage casserole and rice for lunch.

    Love Rzl xx

  • Morning Chums ,
<<hugs to those who are feeling down or poorly>>
I, luckily, am feeling O.K. at the moment ,fingers crossed. I had a great night at Uni and our tutor is so interesting. I am taking a CCS course and this year it is all about 'The Victorian Age' So many things happened, and with poverty looming for lots of folk with the credit crunch, it seems at times as though history is repeating itself.
Weather isn't too promising, and my joints are decidedly achey this morning, usually a sign of imminent rain.
I have my DD and smallest DGS Mikey coming for lunch so I'm looking forward to that. When I was in Manchester over the week-end I picked up some whistles from a stall in Wythenshaw run by the Marines .I shall give them all to the boys , I bet my DD will bless me ,not !.
Strange question I know but has anyone any idea where I can buy one of those old-fashioned button hooks. My gt-nephew is in a pipe band, and is only 9, and has great difficulty doing up the tiny buttons on his spats. I said I would try to find him one .Although I daresay not many folk on here would even know what a buttonhook was, still no harm in asking.
Still have a small amount of cash left from my £50.00 GC for September so I am really pleased .I am going to have another go starting tomorrow for October. Its a great way of using up stuff from the freezer and storecupboards I still seem to have lots of stuff to get through.
Well time I was toddling I have 70 pages of stuff about Queen Victoria to read today .I am rationing my time out this week so I have alloted x-amount for study and x-amount for crafting and another lot for cooking and so on.
My nephew is a very busy vicar and he was telling me its the only way he can get through all he has to do during the week.So I thought I would give it a try to see how I get on. I budget my cash so why not my time ,which is also precious
Take care everyone and as its Monday I hope you all get your washing dry.
I am one of the old-fashioned Monday is washday ladies
    Cheers JackieO xx
