The hounds wont want to go out in this weather as they are both allergic to rain:rotfl: :rotfl:
We have a labrador like that - does not think he should get his paws wet or dirty. He is so fastidious its unbelievable, Will jump over, or go around puddles to avoid the wet. Our last one would be rolling in them. Nothing much doing today . Farrier came yesteday and only did half a job - stinking cold - so he's coming back Friday. Mrs M not impressed. Vet for flu jabs today - thats another big bill:mad: and its hissing down so the girls wont be happy - glad to come in to the barn even if they do get a needle stuck in them!
DS doing a Victoria sponge in catering tomorrow so will have to sort that lot out later.
    Be good

  • Got into town this morning, but weather is atrocious, lost count of the number of soakings I've had! Bought new shoes for baby - he'd gone up a whole size! - & the cost:eek: ! I'd forgotton how much small people's shoes are, next one up is 16 years.
Getting colder in this house, but heating is not going on yet - extra clothes first. DS2 thinks he has tonsilitis (he's got a sore throat that DH had last week!!) & was late up for college, so muggins had to take him, feeling sorry for himself!
DH home for lunch soon, then have to tackle mess in kithcen before baking parkin & starting chicken stew for tea.
Where's the best place to buy slow cookers? DS in USA just got one & swears by it, & I've been thinking of it for a while. Seen everyone on here raving about them, too.
Right, off for lunch - including loads of hot tea!!:D
    See you later

Been to Mums this morning she is a lot better, and is talking about going up to the day room for morning coffee tomorrow, thats a step in the right direction. Some of the ladies were going out on the ring and ride this morning, and they stopped me and asked after her, which I thought was nice of them.

Off out in a bit to the hospital for OH's appt. So now we are playing the where game!!!!!!!!!! I know where it is but I am not telling....he put it away so he can find it.....Its his appt card, he will eventually remember where he put it, and if not I will show him, do MEN ever grow up

Pen-Pin I would buy him a soap on a rope, just to be on the safe side:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Afternoon all.

((((Hugs)))) for all who want/need one today.

JackieO I think you might be able to get buttonhooks from one of those shops that caters for disabled people; they're useful to help arthritic hands with buttons. A quick Google found this: http://www.thistlehelp.co.uk/dressing/buttonhook.html HTH.

I managed to do soya shepherds pie, and as Mr LW is working from home today, we've already had some. I've made enough for tomorrow as well; he'll be late in tomorrow, so just having to heat it and eat it will be good.

We have to take some garden refuse to the recycling centre later, then go to the surgery to get an appointment for my meds review, and to the cleaners to collect his tweed jacket that they've got for cleaning and repairing.

I can't believe we're three quarters of the way through the year already; where on earth is the time going?

Mr LW has just put a mug of tea in front of me, so I'm going to enjoy that while I have a wander round the rest of OS.

    Have a good day, all.

    Afternoon everyone

I`ve just finished cleaning the kitchen after spending most of the day in there. I`ve made the tops for all seven pies and they are now in the freezer to harden off, i shall wrap them shortly and put them back in.

The stew and the soup were doing well on the hob until i went down the garden to water the tomatoes in the greenhouse - i got a bit carried away in there and when i finally remembered about the hob i ran back up to the house. The soup had boiled over and the stew was still on high heat and the pc was hissing away like it was about to explode and something smelled of burning :o
I had to let the pressure down on the pc and top it up with water after giving it a good stir and checking the bottom but it was ok and nothing was spoiled, i put the soup in a new pan and put the old one to soak to get the soup off the outside and cleaned the hob before putting the soup back on for a while.
In the end everything was ok but i was lucky :D

I decided to make some more bread rolls in the remoska which turned out great and now i have one of Divas Aunt Sallys apple cakes in there :D

Bargain Rzl - Here is the soup recipe.

    2 Medium onions
    3 or 4 Medium carrots
    2 Medium potatoes
    1/4 Tsp cumin
    1/4 Tsp turmeric
    1/4 Teaspoon paprika
    1/4 Tsp cayenne pepper
    Blackpepper
    1 Bayleaf
    7 oz Red lentils
    2 1/2 Pints of vegetable stock ( i use 2 green veg oxo`s )
    6 to 8 rashers Smoked bacon - chopped ( i use bacon bits )

Make the stock and add to the rest of the ingredients whilst still hot, bring to the boil and simmer for 45 mins.
    Leave to cool before blending.

This makes a lovely thick soup which is easily my favourite. :D

    Catch up later guys.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Afternoon, just got back from my dress fitting...it needs to be taken in again :D Just treated myself to a piece of flapjack in celebration.

I've spent a couple of hours with my MIL, FIL is in a nursing home and the doctor thinks he may have pneumonia :( so they were waiting for an ambulance. I picked her up at 11.30 and we went to the home, she was still waiting with him at 2pm. I think Mr Twit got a shock when he phoned me to ask if I'd done this, that and the other and where was I...My reply of sat with your mum waiting for the ambulance for your dad stunned him into silence.
I'm sure he thinks I spend all day sat on my arris surfing the interweb

Decision made for tea, Miss Twit will get hers from work. Mr Twit can have steak from the freezer. And, I've stripped Sundays chicken and am going to mix it with a jar of 4p Asda curry sauce and some frozen veg and see what it's like.

    Love and hugs The Twit.

Jackie my darling, have you been on the gin ? , its Tuesday :D xx

No, I wish I had, but I only got back from my week-end away yesterday so I keep thinking its Monday today. Even my DD said why are you doing your washing today you always do it on Monday morning :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Senior moment time I think. Its odd when you get so used to doing things on a certain day . I shall go and hang my head and stand in the corner:o
DD took me out to lunch which was lovely today for a change and then i went and blew £60.00 on a raincoat which I did need, but thinking about I probably could have done without, but hey lifes too short to worry about
Mikey was delighted to see me as he hadn't seen me since last Thursday, a long time when you're only four and your best and silliest Granny isn't around to play with you. His other Grandma Linda isn't really into playing games, and silly voices, she misses such a lot.But I gain so much from him. Small children are so honest and straightforward when they talk to you.
  • <<<I put a lovely orgasmic chicken in the slow cooker overnight>>>

Is that one of those 'happy chickens 'that HFW is always going on about ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:
