OS Daily Tue 30th Sept 08

Hi, this is the OS Daily thread for the 30th September. It is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. It's sure very Autumn down here this morning. Lots of wind and drizzle. I guess the nice warm dry days are almost over.

Had friends over for tea. Did some BBQ pork chops on the grill outside, which might be the last time we use that.... hope not. It was good talking about old things.

Work today and then 3 days off. I have to pick up a new rabbit hutch my dad has made, which the bunny will like I am sure.

Not much else going on.

Have a nice day
N9eav, I must go for a look in Lidl for those chops, sounds like a bargain. (Frozen cabinet)

Asda have loads of cereal offers on at present, but why don't they keep any stock on the shelves? All sold out.... it's really annoying
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

Morning N9eav and those who cross and follow :hello:

Miserable and raining here :( We watched a weather forecast last night, talk about doom and gloom, having just watched the news then that, I felt really depressed
Mr Twit has departed on his way to Oldham and has just rattled off the details for a quote he wants me to do. I do hope I can decipher my scribble.

Usual list of jobs for today and I must remember cat food, poor cat doesn't like the stuff I got from Asda as his Royal Canin has run out. Oh well, those tins of sardines in the cupboard are getting used.

I need to call at work, pick up salad stuff and call at other work. this afternoon I have a dress fitting for a friend's wedding and then I'm working this evening 5-7.

Love and hugs to all, especially those who are poorly or MIA. (Shez)

  • Morning all :hello: I hope everyone's well and there is good news from HeidiBoo soon.

One of our traders has been in the news this week warning of possible power cuts this winter, he wants to get on here - the OS board have been warning of this for weeks :rotfl:

Well, I'd better get a wriggle on. Dinner tonight will be whatever I can find RTC on the way home - Ready Steady Cook anyone?

    Hugs for everyone

Dark, cold and raining this morning, have put the heating on for an hour to warm the house up.

HEIDIBOO poor you, hope you get a baby soon!
    PENPIN wearing her knickers urrghhh!
    MARIE hope Ulick is improving.
CANDYGIRL please take some time out for you, big hugs.

Hi to any new peeps I've missed and big hugs to anyone who needs one this morning.

BETH just read your post, hugs to you and OH, hope things go ok at the hospital.

No work for me today. Might go to the allotment if the rain stops, want to transfer my strawberry plants down there and do some more digging. Also need to nip to Aldi (they have fleece blankets in) and Lidl. I bought 4 of the fleece blankets in Asda in chocolate for £1.77 the other day. Have two on the sofas as throws and 2 to put over us in the evening if we are cold.

OH has said he will take me out for lunch today. He starts on a new ward tomorrow for 6 months (not his choice) and is not looking forward to it.

Off to have a shower and breakfast.

    Have a good day all.

    WB Christabell.
I was up for a couple of hours during the night, but managed to fall asleep again about 4ish, no doubt I'll be flagging later.
I wonder who I'll manage to fall out with today, oh dear I am a crabby cow. Hubby's having a really bad time with the lack of work, I try hard to keep his spirits up, but it's not easy. Is it any wonder I have no patience with some people at work.
DS is coming over for dinner one evening this week, it will be nice to see him, I'll need to jig my meal plan around to make sure I do one of his special favourites for him.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning peeps

I`m sat here wishing that this wasn`t my last day off, w*rk is going to seem strange after 12 days off but at least i feel like i`ve had a good break. My days off are usually spent playing catchup with things in the house.

I`ve spent an hour in the kitchen and the dw has just finished, the wm should also finish just before the cheap electricity runs out and i didn`t bother with the bm as i still have a full loaf and a couple of rolls left.

I plan on making lentil and bacon soup later and a nice big pressure cooker of beef stew  If i get chance i shall also make another one of Diva`s Aunt Sallys apple cakes - Yum!!

I started making pies yesterday but never got around to finishing the lids so they are all waiting in the fridge to be topped and frozen, speaking of frozen i actually put the heating on last night  I was trying to hold out until the 1st of October and would have done if it wasn`t for all the washing everywhere. I put it on a low setting which was enough to take the chill off the room and also has dried the washing overnight so i`m really pleased with that. The next load of washing is now on the rads so hopefully i`ll have some more dry washing and i can rotate it with the next lot. My ironing pile is enormous already but at least the washing is going down :D

Both houndies are snoring away but i shall wake them shortly for an early walk and then i ned to get a few jobs out of the way before i go to visit dad and cut his hair.

I can see through the blinds that it`s just getting light so i shall go and have a peek at the weather.

    Have a good day peeps.
    Catch up later.

    SD

PS PenPin - I too was in stitches after your post yesterday - sorry :o but i could just imagine your OH`s face.
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • Good Morning All

Wet here also but not cold. School run wont be fun in the rain but I think OH will be doing it today so thats ok.

Got loads done yesterday so was very pleased. Today will be in the office this morning, popping out to Makro this afternoon to stock up on toilet rolls and kitchen rolls and if anything else is on offer. Will get something for dinner whilst there - still havnt done the menu plan.

Trying to avoid the news even more today, with the collapse of the USA rescue plan guess it will be more depressing than usual.

Hope you all have good days.
