Lidl & Netto Paying For Carrier Bags

And if you want a Carrier - 9p each x 6 = alot of money I think!
In my book if you shop somewhere then you are intitled to a carrier bag or even a box or something to put it all in.
had to hand - ball it in the car again!!
Why should you pay again?
right lets answer your questions 1 at a time,
where have you been for the past 10/15 years, aldi/netto/lidl have always done this or have done since i started shopping at them, they charge for bags so tehy can keep the prices for the food they sell low,
they dont throw it on the belt, you put your shopping on the belt and the till operator has to scan the items fast so once hes scanned each item u put it in the trolley or you put it on the side ready to pack once you have payed, the till operator has to scan 800 items a minute and he can only achieve this if the customer puts the food straight into the trolley/or on the side, he cant achieve his target if the customer decides that they can pack the food fast or they're not organised which can allow a queue to build up and in turn the till operator will have to open up another till which that person would have to stop what theyre doing to open up,
maybe you should get a job at aldi or lidl to see what its like0 -

well the sainsburys stores ive been and the 1 i work in its already in practice for 2 weeks0 -
They can work with the suppliers on their own branded products, surely. IMO it has nothing to do with shelf-life, it has to do with wanting to convince people buying Organic that the extra cost is worth it. If the organic stuff looked the same as the normal stuff, they'd be less inclined to buy it.
you cant make people buy organic food even when its on offer or cheaper than the same non organic item , i work in a small sainsburys and we sell orgainc fruit and veg and some weeks it doesnt sell even when its reduced,0 -
I remember Kwik Save charged for carrier bags when i was young.just passing through.... Nothing to see....0

Think Kwiksave went bust didn't it??
I also don't mind taking my own bags. When our local Aldi opened they were giving the black canvas type bags and the chiller bags out for free. The woman gave us 4 canvas and 2 chiller bags and they stay in the boot of my car. I also got my car tyres checked for free by michelin a few weeks bag and got two lovely blue material bags.
I personally find material bags more sturdy than the stupid plastic equivelents.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000 -

OMG I hope they fit their workers with bionic arms. Does anybody ever buy 800 items at once? Maybe 80 things would fill a trolley...but 800?????? If you had 80 items then it'd take what...one second or less for it all to be scanned. That is v.quick.0 -

Probably coz it's generally still dearer than the ordinary equivalent which isn't up to the end of its display date.0 -
The reason people go to Aldi is that its cheap - it wont be so cheap if they had to subsidise things like free carrier bags.
My Mum shops there and packs things once she gets to the car - you would have to be a superhuman to be able to get it all packed before the checkout operator finishes scanning!
I too work in a supermarket (one which doesnt display free carrier bags, and hasnt done for over a year) - and you will be surprised how many people ask for carrier bags because they left thier bags for life 'in the car'!Moving on upSPC #382 ~ £40 banked
