Lidl & Netto Paying For Carrier Bags
Comments

Is it only me who remembers having to pay for bags 30 odd years ago
Then one supermarket (can't remember which) had the great idea of handing them out for free, obviously they all then had to follow suit.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I cant be bothered to take carriers to any supermarkets , ive used aldi once and to be honest dont get it ?whats so good about it? and the others like it?, as stated they throw the goods at you and dont give you time to pack them properly why?? when i was there there was no que , so why do it?.
now i swap to sainsbury, tesco and asda , all deliver for a fiver hence i dont have to think about silly carrier bags, i dont have to walk around the boring mundane supermarket with the other tounge draggers and i use the village buthcher.
All this enviroment crap is just that crap i bet the supermarkets when they stop useing carriers, they will still charge some where down the line as they are used to the dosh.
and look at the packaging its a big joke ,
like the CSOs we pay for a police force we are being short changed and they the good joe public follow it like the tounge draggers they have become0 -
It is only a matter of time before supermarkets realise where all this abolition of free carrier bags will end.
When 90% of customers in Tesco walk out of their stores carrying their shopping in ASDA bags for life, or those of other competitors, we will see a massive rethink on charging for carriers.:D0 -
We always take our own bags anywayThe Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

I use my own bags at Lidl. I don't see what you have to complain about tbh..I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

If you're talking about politics I thought we could vote at elections to voice what we believe.
Or do you not vote?0 -
I take bags if I don't have anywhere to put the stuff I've bought (don't particularly want to wander around the High Street with a bra dangling from my fingers, for example), but working in retail, it surprises me how many people want a bag for something that could easily fit into either their pocket, another bag they have on them, or their handbag. I've had people ask for a carrier (we do standard size or large) when they've bought a box of fag papers!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

Ah yes .... the Lidl Challenge .... "Can you get the scanned goods into your bags/boxes/trolley as quickly as the checkout girl/boy scans them???" I joke with our local Lidl folk about this
I am organised to the point of obsession and stack goods in the trolley according to tins, dry goods, bottles, stuff for the fridge, laundry/cleaning stuff etc. I then stack them on the belt in the same groups and, in general, they're scanned in groups too. I then have four or five bags ready to "grab & pack".
Some years ago I had a John Lewis Card and registered for the "self-service scan and pay" at Waitrose. I got six fantastically sturdy canvas shopping bags, including a cool bag. Got an extra card for my partner, he registered at Waitrose too and we got another six bags!
Haven't shopped at Waitrose since, but still have the bagsMight be a bit excessive to suggest that you take out a new credit agreement just for this, but some might be tempted
Check that Waitrose still supply the bags, though!
It's also a standing joke in my local Lidl that I am the "Hyacinth Bucket" of the area - packing her Lidl goodies into Waitrose bags "in case the neighbours notice" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Colostomy..........

on the rare occasions I venture into M&S, I delight in taking in my Lidl mega-carrier & then buying something really extravagant*
*usually on a shopping expedition for someone else :rolleyes:0
