Yes, they are still better value than BT at the moment, we only joined in January of this year but the price keeps being increased.

  • U are charged for engaged tone... if you have a teenager (& result is self-evident on bill) it'll be easy to see... but they do... it , quote BT... 'ties up the line'

    @£0.042 plus VAT per time

Sorry, but you're wrong. You're only charged if the call is answered - either by a human being, answer machine, voicemail/1571 or IVR unit ("please press 1 to be ignored, 2 to listen to Robbie Williams' millenium etc etc"). BT do not charge for calls to engaged lines. The only exception to this used to be calls to mobiles, but that was clamped down on by Oftel (as was) years ago.

From my limited experience of teenagers (friends, relatives) you're probably being charged for them grunting at one another then hanging up (I always thought Harry Enfield's Kevin was a mickey take until some of the nice kids I know hit teenage years...).
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...

They have now put the price up on the front page

Rates are in pence per minute. Calls are billed per second rounded
to the nearest penny, include VAT and are subject to change.
18866 calls are subject to a 4p connection fee.

    1899 here i come.

Where did you get 1/2p /min from?? The web site states 0p /min for UK land lines.
  • Think that's the 1899 rate if you're dialing via the 080 number from ntl rather than 1899 access code from BT.

Yep, that's right but 18866's NTL rate is 1p / min

    sorry, read too many pages.
yes the 1/2 p was for ntl/ other network
    BT still 0p
  • So its back to 1899 again for 01/02 calls. Yet again though 18866 fail to inform customers of the increase, together with the poor service being received by some customers at weekends,it does make you wonder, after all the cost of calling is supposed to be falling.
