Good luck, we'll be rooting for you :jA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

okay..the last fag has been put out...:D and i have updated my sig to ensure that i remember how long it has been...fifteen minutes and counting!!:rotfl:
am planning to spend most of today being as busy as i can be (she says whilst lounging in dressing gown on sofa typing away on this computer...!!) to prevent any cravings from getting the better of me...
i have to get the shopping in today...i have written my meal plan for the week and hopefully won't have to spend more than £25 which will mean that the surplus can go onto op's...:j i will transfer the extra to the isa in anticipation of my november payment....
i am definatley going to make my target for the year due to the repayments not starting yet....the additional cash i had allocated for the increase in my usual payments (payments were £500 on io mortgage and will be £700 on repayment) i have already put in the isa so am hoping that when i make my first official op it will be for the full target of £600...:D
My current dilemma is because of the above, it probably means that i should increase my target .. perhaps i'll raise it to 1k and really stretch myself... but i'm not sure if i should just keep it as it is and see how much better i can do....what do you think??
hope you all have a great weekend....i am just hoping to get through it without smoking or murdering anyone because i am not!!!:rotfl:0 -
Good luck with the not smoking, my dh tried loads of times over the years but it wasn't until we decided to have kids that he became really determined. It's been 5 years now. Plus just think of all the money you'll save, why not put it in a jar to show your progress.0

Best wishes in quitting, hopefully the smoke-free environments in pubs etc will also help to minimise cravings too.
Have you simply put the numbers in your spreadsheet to see how much you are saving each, day, week, month? This may also help especially if it adds to your savings and/or OP.0 -
Hi Frazz,
Thought I'd post on your diary for a change.....
Evab is spot on with that idea! Put the cash in a jar so you can see it mounting up. A real visual incentive to keep up the good work.
Back in the eighties, my dad's wife smoked and she decided to give up and buy herslef a microwave with the cash. This was in the days when Microwaves were £500+
She did it in about just over 6 months!

Well done on stopping smoking for 5 hours :T
Well worth putting all the saved money in a jar - you'll be amazed & motivated by how quickly it mounts up. Then use it for a big OPLooking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

I reckon those that say put the cash somewhere as a visual reminder are right - or maybe feed the mortgage pig with it? It'll be a real boost to see a solid reminder of what you're saving. Good luck!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Don't get me wrong, I agree seeing the weekly/monthly amount visually is a good incentive but if you augment with the annual and 5 yearly amount (for example) doesn't it increase the incentive?
Whatever, let's hope Frazzmunch gets support at work etc to quit as we can only do so much here to encourage and sometimes you need people at your side.0
