well, i was a good girl over the weekend and have done all the jobs i intended..:j greenhouse is now clean and i have done some planting..unfortunately the growbags i was intending to use have been lurking in my garden for a few months and the dreaded bindweed has managed to invade them  so couldn't use them...will have to buy a couple more and then can complete my planting....doesn't it realise i am trying to save my pennies to op???!!!
mortgage comes out on wednesday so hoping it has been converted by then..still haven't had confirmation that this has happened so waiting patiently (actually not very patient at all!!) for wednesday or confirmation letter to arrive.....i am so desperate to make my first op....money is just languishing in my isa and everytime i see it i am thinking about how much more it could be acheiving if it were off my mortgage....do you think i am becoming obsessive??:D
hope you are all well and had a great weekend....off to decide on the weeks menu plan now...spent the vast majority of the food budget this week already so need to feed from the cupboards and freezer...shouldn't be an issue but feel better when i have a plan!!0 -

_pale_ _pale_ _pale_ _pale_ _pale_ ew, not surprised you feel queasy :eek:A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Hi Frazz - sounds like things are continuing to run along nicely with you - I wish we had space to grow much in the way of veggies - we had a growbag with tomatoes this year, and also tried runner beans up the bush in front of our front window which worked OK - might increase the numbers of those next year. I'm considering potatoes in buckets too - I know of a few people with limited space who have made that work. Other than that I have my herbs (planted in the strangest of places and alongside al sorts of other plants on the balcony!) and a nice pair of Bay trees.....!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

seriously though, the main problem for most people is fluctuation in water levels....you really have to make sure that you don't do the 'drought and flood' scenario...(yes, i speak from experience!!) make sure you that you water when they are getting dry (stick your finger in the mud about a half inch down and check for damp!!) and grow the easy stuff first...courgettes, carrots, beans, salad leaves....you would be surprised how easy veg growing is, i hate growing 'normal' stuff, i have about as much success as you by the sounds of it...but veg never lets me down
the only problem is that it can become addictive (especially when you have the added bonus that it contributes to the mfw lifestyle!!):rotfl:
Well done on the hard work over the weekend...you achieved more than me!
Let us know about your first OP!!!:TMBNA - [STRIKE]£7068.60 [/STRIKE] £7060.00 Egg - 1422.35 A&L - [STRIKE]£249.32[/STRIKE] £215.00Loan - £13279.50 :rolleyes:0 -
not a happy girl today...found out that the mortgage will not be converted until next months payment as i applied in october... oh well, i have put the intended op into the isa and will just wait with baited breath until this time next month when i can finally make my first one....
on the plus side, i have just changed my house insurance and saved a small fortune:D my renewal quote was for £422  so i went through quidco and got a new provider for £146..:j :j :j
just got to behave myself now for the next month and hopefully be able to get more on the november op!!:D0 -

i wish!! just a three bed semi in rural norfolk..:D i nearly fell off my legs when the renewal came in...it is £40 more than last year and i thought that that was a rip off too!! mind you, it was with the halifax....i suppose they have to get money where they can in their current position...but they are not having any more of mine!!:rotfl:0 -
I live in a 3 bed semi too, in North Wales and I know it depends on your requirements etc but my last cover was £210 and £120 cashback from Quidco. All this talk of insurance is a reminder that I need to start getting quotes for my car insurance.0

Terrific:j:j0 -
not much to report today...just bimbling (i am sure that is a word but i have probably spelt it wrong!!:D ) along and spending as little as possible...!!
i am so pleased that its friday....i need to get some growbags tomorrow and get some more seeds planted, got a bit of paperwork that needs to be finished too but most importantly...da da da da (yes, this is worthy of the drum roll!!) tomorrow is going to be the first day of my new tobacco free life..
I have excused it for too long...i even tried to quit today but then someone had bought me a packet as a thank you for something and i would have felt rude to decline (yeah, i know i don't have to smoke them, but i am only human!:o )...so tomorrow....and this is a very public declaration which will make me much more likely to stick to the plan....I AM quitting the dreaded weed:rolleyes:
hopefully i won't make everyone's life miserable...i will try my hardest not to be a grumpy old bat (despite the fact that everyone already thinks i am!!:D ) and i will be updating regularly on the trials and tribulations of the smokefreewannabee!! :rotfl:
right...off to have a fag now...all this talk of quitting is making me crave!!:rotfl:0
