Gosh, you'll be able to set up your own green grocers!Let me know how you get on, the only thing I managed to grow this year was courgettes, my toms got blight and the slugs everything else!
Good luck with the quitting smoking!Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Good luck with your project Frazz!
I've taken to putting the balance of my grocery budget into my mortgage pig. I budget £25 per week what I don't spend goes into pig.
Unfortunately, I'm in an overdraft situation at the moment thanks to a heap of dentistry that I had to pay for. The pig money might need to be diverted for a couple of months! LOL
Watching your progress with interest!

Hey! Sorry to hear about your fil, hope all gets better soon.
I was thinking of looking into getting an allotment (no garden, I'm afraid), but I have a habit of killing anything green! Do you have any helpful hints and tips for someone who is definately not a gardener?:p

i am growing red celery this year...maybe that would be good!!:D
seriously though, the main problem for most people is fluctuation in water levels....you really have to make sure that you don't do the 'drought and flood' scenario...(yes, i speak from experience!!) make sure you that you water when they are getting dry (stick your finger in the mud about a half inch down and check for damp!!) and grow the easy stuff first...courgettes, carrots, beans, salad leaves....you would be surprised how easy veg growing is, i hate growing 'normal' stuff, i have about as much success as you by the sounds of it...but veg never lets me down
the only problem is that it can become addictive (especially when you have the added bonus that it contributes to the mfw lifestyle!!):rotfl:

aww strumpet....dental work sounds beyond scary... ....hate dentist, scared of dentist...dentist not good!!!
don't panic about the pig...give it a name so that it knows you are at least thinking about it even if you do have to starve it for a while!! :rotfl: and see if you can find any money anywhere (street, lurking in a drawer, 'borrowed' from partner!!) to give it a couple of pence at least...there is little sadder than a starving porker!!0 -
Me - I hate going to the dentist too:eek: - so I don't and haven't had any dental work since I was 12:D.0
-
I too have "issues" with dentists (don't ever, ever, ever try to make me watch Marathon Man...), but, having overcome a few years without checks, I did go and so force myself to now go for routine check-ups, but am never relaxed about that!0

last time i went to the dentist was when i kept getting abcesses on my tooth...he xrayed me and informed me that i had had a broken jaw at some point which had dislodged my tooth and ended up wiring my jaw together and my tooth into my jaw... ...NEVER again!!! that was around 14 years ago and even the thought of seeing a dentist now makes me feel queasy!!
anyway, on a less yucky note, i have received my seeds today for my garden..:j i have a reasonably quiet weekend ahead as dh is at fil's, ds is at his grandmas and dd is at boyfriends...just me and the puppies until late tomorrow night and i will probably have sunday morning to myself too as dh will be exhausted by the time he gets back and need a mega lie-in...so i am going to spend tomorrow morning doing housework (before environmental health close me down!!:o ) then a couple of hours catching up on paperwork and in the afternoon i am cleaning the glass in my greenhouse and starting planting..:T i am really looking forward to it...can't wait until i have got the first seeds in...oh how tragic i am.. will probably have to harvest the remains of the beetroot and carrots over the next week and get the herbs into jars for over the winter months...i may dehydrate some of the produce rather than fill my freezer up...or i may just gorge myself on beetroot and apple salad instead..mmm sounds like a better plan!!:rotfl:
anyway, hope you all have a great weekend...0
