Sorry to hear about your FIL but well done on the OP.
  • Hi folks!!

Long time no ramble, but i have been really busy over the past couple of months with a variety of things and it has meant that i have had to neglect you all....however, I am back now to talk trash for the rest of the year...:D

Quick update, fil is still with us...medical miracle that he is!...so i now have a credit card bill that needs to be addressed but I will do that over the next couple of months....

I was successful with the speculative application i made and now have a second job which i started on dec 22nd and have paid the first £100 wage as an op..:T i am hoping to earn as much as possible (have done quite a few hours this month) and every penny is going to the mortgage...the interest rate has also come down so i am also planning the additional back into it....

I have also swapped my energy supplier (at last!!:j although there is still time for that to go wrong!!) so my bills should hopefully come down considerably and again the difference will go to op...

I am still going to try to get the mortgage done in three years, february will be a very light month on the op front as i am also changing employer with my main job which means a change in payday...as a result i have to accomodate all of february's expenses from jans pay which is not the easiest thing in the world to do!!! However, i will try to make up for the reduction over the forthcoming months......

I am going to join the NSD and grocery challenges for february...i have done really well over the past couple of months and have managed to fill my freezer and cupboards so i intend to be as creative as possible to minimise my expenditure....I have a massive amount of work ahead of me but i am really looking forward to achieving my goals...

anyhoo...hope you are all well, will catch up with your diaries over the next couple of days....oh, and happy new year!!:D

  • hi folks... you can probably tell from the post title (and the fact i haven't been on for a while!) that once again i have lurched from one crisis to another!!!.....my mf journey is not going to be a smooth one, i can tell...!!

my household has now unexpectedly increased in size...i now have my dd's 18 year old boyfriend as a permanent resident due to a family breakdown and he comes fully equipped with a three year old lab/retriever cross who is on a special diet due to his weight problems....

one of my puppies severed an artery and the tendons in his leg two weeks ago and although i am insured, i have to pay the money first and then claim it back...his treatment has cost 1k to date and will only increase as he is now on weekly visits to the vet which cost between £50- £100 a time....however, the most important thing is that he is alive and hopping...looking very splendid in his funky coloured bandages!! he is in a full leg cast type thing and has had green, purple and blue to date...stylish and functional!!! :D

other things affecting my journey... well it has all gone to poo really; i haven't managed any nsd's, way off on the grocery challenge, my dd's bike has died and i need to fund a new one for her until she has the cash, my fil is still hanging on (bless him, he's really not doing well at the moment) so dh is still spending a fortune on travel, my switching of employers is not working out well for me so i am looking elsewhere (although i do have a couple of irons in the fire...) and with my 2nd job it looks as if the hours may not be great in future but i have done loads this month which will definately help. Oh, and i am loaded with cold which means i had to miss two shifts this week which is very depressing on the cash front!!

apart from that, life is pretty okay!!! despite the obvious setbacks, i am still mindful of this challenge and feel that once the current stresses have gone (in otherwords, when my puppy is better) i can tackle everything else. he needs 24 hour care at the moment, so everything is revolving around him....trying to maintain calm and minimal movement in a high energy 19 month old greyhound puppy when his sister (same age) and a new dog are in the environment is not the least stressful thing i have ever had to deal with!!

anyway, on to the better stuff. the change of energy supplier went according to plan:j :j :j months of trying have finally paid off and i will be sticking the payment difference off the mortgage. they are estimating a lot lower than i am so i am only knocking £30 a month off at first (they are trying to knock it down by £70 but i think that that is unrealistic), i have had a payment of £15 from quidco and am still planning on making an overpayment for february however small it may be!

i have felt completely overwhelmed this past couple of weeks, lots of really distressing stuff, but throughout it all i have kept the belief that it will work out okay in the end...i will get to my mf date within the timescales i have set myself, i just need to get things straight and then i can throw myself into it again and make up for all of the lost time ;) i am not beaten yet!!

anyhoo....better trot off and get the pancake mix ready for tonight...this will be an epic adventure, all three of the kids are pancake mad and can do around twelve each!! but in true mse form, i am making the mix from scratch!! will catch up with all your diaries over the next couple of days...hope you are all well.....

    (((hugs))) to you frazzmunch

I'm glad the puppy is ok and I'm sure having the other two around distracts him wonderfully  A shame you can't teach them to play monopoly, it would at least him still.

I hope your job situation gets sorted out soon for you and your cold disappears quickly.

Hopefully all this 'action' this early in the year means the rest will be a quiet one. I have my fingers crossed for you

    Happy Pancake day!

That is certainly one heck of a post....

There are times in life when mortgage and MFW needs to step back as you only have a finite energy and time supply. Focus on the important things around you, then gently back to MFW.

    Best wishes
